The French and Indian War

Causes of the French and Indian War In the 1750s, France and Britain were fighting in Europe. The tensions spread to the colonies. The British colonists wanted to take over French lands between the Appalachians and the Mississippi River and Canada to make money in the fur trade. Most Indians ally with the French who were building forts to protect their fur interest. American colonist ally with the “Mother Country”, England

The French New France had 3 colonies: Canada, land areas between the Appalachians and the Mississippi River, including New Orleans Their economy was based on trade with the Native Americans.

He was killed at the Battle of Fort Duquesne, (present Pittsburg, Pennsylvania) using ineffective battle tactics.
