Digital Text for Students with Disabilities Voice Dream Reader App
Digital Text This is a tool provided for students with print disabilities per IEP or 504 plan A person who cannot effectively read print because of a visual, physical, perceptual, developmental, cognitive, or learning disability. A print disability prevents a person from gaining information from printed material in the standard way, and requires them to utilize alternative methods to access that information. Print disabilities include visual impairments, learning disabilities, or physical disabilities that impede the ability to manipulate a book in some way.

Each book must be downloaded for a specific student; you can’t use another student’s name to download material The student must first be added as a member to our RCSD organization Bookshare account in order to download content into the app (through the MATCH team)
iPads The iPads you receive are to be used ONLY for the student they are assigned to and ONLY for digital text access. If the student moves from your school, please notify the MATCH team ASAP If the iPad is broken, please notify the MATCH team ASAP If the iPad is reported stolen, please contact the police to report the theft ASAP and the MATCH team The iPads may be taken home ONLY if parents have met with staff and signed the Mobile agreement

Go to Bookshare in the app to find a book to download Select the PLUS sign and Bookshare when ready to download a book
Bookshare is the primary source in our district for downloading books for students with disabilities: textbooks, novels, periodicals Enter title or author in the search box
Once you search for the text needed, choices may come up, select Download for the one you need
If the text you need is not available, you will need to send Bookshare an to request it
Once the book has downloaded You will get a popup message that the file has loaded. Select OK Then you will need to select DONE to get out of the file download area.
After the text has downloaded, you will see it appear in the main library menu, touch it to open it
Use the buttons at the bottom of the app to control play, pause, go back or forward.
The Audio Icon at the top, right hand area of the app allows for changing the speech rate. There is only one default voice.
