Introduction By the end of this presentation you will know The Gradebook How to set up the Gradebook Assignment categories How to add an assignment Multiple assignment entry Scoring assignments Customizing views Student grades Course section reports Assignments to grade gadget Transferring grades from previous enrollment Document sharing and management CWS vs. TPS Estimated Presentation Time: 60 Min. * Some screens in this presentation might have minor differences than yours depending on the location, state, and time zone.

Gradebook Is the most important tool for teachers Is accessible under the teaching menu Is seen by parents and students on their live pages Features configurable grade breakdowns Includes the "set all grades" feature Has multiple assignments entry Two main parts "assignments and course sections" Instant calculation system for average and GPA Files and folders can be uploaded Creates reports to keep track of students’ progress

How to Set up Define a percentage for "Late Assignment Take Off" and "Perfect Assignment Extra" System calculates automatically over the defined percent Needs to be entered for each course section Any folder can be uploaded

Assignment Categories Is accessible through Teaching >> Course Sections >> Course >> Assignments tool icon configures categories The sum of percentages should be equal 100% Use add button for each grading percentage

Assignment Categories Can be copied from another course If there is a school-wide assignment category defined by the academic officer, use the "reset from template" button to copy

Adding an Assignment Category: select from defined categories Short title: a short code can be given that contains up to 5 characters Title: a long name can be created up to 30 characters Description: details about the assignment such as book name, page & question numbers, how to info Weight: calculation rate among other assignments in the same category Due: turn in date, especially meaningful for homework and projects

Adding an Assignment Grade type: 1.Plus/minus: + is done (100), - is not complete (0) 2.Check plus/minus: √+ 100, √ and√- defined by academic officer, x assigns as zero 3.Numeric: calculates over the given max points 4.Letter: shows up as a letter within A-F 5.Won`t be graded: used if a teacher won't grade the assignment Announce: uncheck, if it is a pop-quiz Announce date: define announcement and starting date File: upload any assignments, pdf, ppt, study guide, cheat sheet, resource materials to be seen by students

Multiple Assignment Entry Allows users to create an assignment for more than one class (course sections) such as 7-A, 7-B & 7-C History by one click Access from Teaching >> Assignments

Scoring Assignments "Set all grades" assigns everyone the same grade More columns can be added to see more information such as description, file, due date, max points, extra points, announced, announcement date, grade max/min, grade average, grade missing, grade count, and undecided ? : Undecided, no score is given yet n/a: Not assigned, student is not responsible E: Excused, with teacher‘s discretion M: Missing, there is no assignment turned in I: Incomplete, did not meet the minimum criteria of work L: Late, not turned in by the due date * : Perfect, gives extra credit as defined N: Normal, regular grade type

Adding Columns Add more columns to read students’ data efficiently, it just takes an easy right click

Student Grades Term/annual averages, category weights/averages, and assignment grades can be seen and edited Operational screen for each student Are exportable to excel Contain print screen feature

Course Section Reports The following reports are generated for each student: Course Section Grade Report -provides course section Gradebook report Detailed Student Progress Report -shows detailed progress report of the student in the current term Missing Assignments -provides detailed information about missing assignments Student Progress Report -shows progress of the student in the current term

Assignments to Grade Gadget Can be added under home screen in "My workplace" Shows all the assignments that are not yet graded Works as a shortcut link when it is clicked Can display more columns such as: category, title, description, grade count, action, and due date

Transfer Grades from Previous Enrollment If the group code/name is changed, system asks to transfer grades from previous enrollment by finding matching assignments/grades. Orphaned grades category shows only the unmatched assignments/grades.

Document Sharing & Management Documents (pdf, word, excel, ppt, jpeg, etc...) that a teacher would like to share with students need to be uploaded under USERS folders through Documents menu or Configuration menu under the course section

Document Sharing & Management After the upload is done, documents can be shared with students while giving an assignment with a link through folders

CWS vs. TPS Category Weighted System (CWS): Under the weighted system, grade categories are assigned a weight as a percentage of the final grade, while grade items are assigned a weight as a percentage of their parent category Total Points System (TPS): Grades are calculated by using total earned points divided by total available points
