Here is a list features and functions that you will want to take a look at before you hit the ground running with your PTP gradebook

2 INTRODUCTION PowerTeacher Pro - the new grading platform that seamlessly streamlines operations and removes inefficiencies to help improve instruction with an HTML interface… The first thing you should know about the new gradebook is that it is html (that means it works like a website). This means no more downloading and installing java files and launchers. Simply click the PowerTeacher Pro link on the Powerteacher web portal, and your gradebook opens in your browser. And the touch-screen friendly score inspector means that you can use your gradebook from any device with a browser

Tips and Tricks to find your way around PTP Before we start learning about gradebook functionality, let’s take some time to get comfortable with finding our way around the PTP gradebook interface.

The Assignments List is the default screen that you’ll see when you log into PTP. From here you can: Use the Class drop down to access individual classes or course-alike groups as well as accessing past terms. Use the create button from any page to create a new category or assignment You can always access the settings icon to find additional functionality on any page You’ll use the charms bar to access different functions and views within your gradebook…some areas of immediate use will be: grading charm – used to to access and enter assignments, scores and comments Students charm – has analytics to track individual student progress as well as quickly access the student online portal Using the Progress and Reports charms, you can access and analyze trends in scores In the settings charm, you can adjust calculations for both standards and traditional grades as well as add course descriptions and set gradebook display preferences.

18 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Add details about the class, such as a description or the syllabus, that will be visible in the PowerSchool Student and Parent Portals, and in PowerSchool Mobile. The class description can be a great way to share information that you’d like all your students and parents to have. Before creating Categories and Assignments, let’s take a moment to add some information to the class description.

The Course Description shows up in Section Description To access your class descriptions select the settings charm and then select class descriptions Enter information for each section in your gradebook (don’t forget to save!) This information appears on the student portal whenever students log in to check their grades

23 CREATING ASSIGNMENTS AND CATEGORIES
Categories allow you to group your assignments. Each assignment must be tied to a category.

The creating Assignments and Categories function is available from any page in the PTP gradebook by clicking on the +Create button in the upper right hand part of the screen. Use the resulting pop-up to specify assignment details and functionality. Categories and Assignments can be imported from your old gradebook so you don’t have to start from scratch. You’ll find more in-depth information on this in subsequent modules.

ENTERING SCORES Access and Enter scores by: Assignment Student After your categories and assignments have been created, you are ready to enter some scores. As you’ll see, there are a couple different ways to access and enter information on student progress.

34 Entering Scores One way to enter scores is to access the scoresheet by using the grading charm Select a blank cell to activate the score inspector, and enter scores and comments, or add assignment flags Click on the assignment name at the top of the scoresheet to access standards scores. Scores can also be accessed through the Assignment List – it is also accessible through the grading charm From the assignments page, select a single assignment to enter scores Look familiar? Scores can also be accessed through the Students charm This is a good screen when you want to view an individual student’s “body of evidence”

SCORE INSPECTOR Score entry options will change dynamically by assignment and score type You can enter scores in the score field, or use the score inspector’s “buttons” with a mouse or touch screen device Use the buttons at the upper right to toggle between score and comment entry Use the arrows to navigate between students and assignments Horizontal and vertical fill will fill only empty cells with the currently active score. Select a score attribute to add it to a score Use the Codes button to access special score codes.
