5 After logging in click appropriate link to: Create assignments Create or modify individual questions View grades for an individual student or your entire class

6 Create Assignments Modify Assignments Remove Assignments

7 Give your assignment a meaningful name eGrade walks you through creating a new assignment step-by-step

8 Select question bank that you want to pull questions from Preview questions by clicking on question This is an algorithmically generated question. Click “Refresh” to Generate new values for the parameters. Algorithmically generated questions are dynamic questions that present different values each time a student attempts to complete a question.

9 Check boxes for the questions you want to add Then click “Add Selected” To add questions:

10 Specify type of assignmentSpecify information student is to receive once the assignment is completed Set : Passing grade Time Limit View Set dates assignment is available

11 Visual Summary of Assignment Preview a visual summary of your new assignment before saving it

12 Upon selecting the finish button you will see your newly created assignment!

13 We are done with the Assignment Editor Now let’s take a look at the Question Bank Editor

14 Question Bank Editor is used to: eGrade supports multiple question types Create a new testbank Upload one from your computer Edit an existing testbank Delete a testbank

15 4 Key steps to writing a new question: 1. Input question 2. Input answer choices and select correct answer 3. Choose if you want answers scrambled 4. Choose how many correct answers

16 You can add comments to questions. e.g. “If you get this question wrong please see me immediately” You can also provide hints to each student. e.g. “The correct answer is greater than 1 and less than 3”

17 Student View Students access eGrade by: http://egrade.brownstone.net/live/classes/richpirozzi Going to their class-specific URL Selecting the “Register for this Class” link We will now see how students access eGrade

18 Student Learning Guides: Contain unique access code that student must enter upon 1 st login * Students create user name and password $5 packaged with book $15 stand alone item

19 Assignment Selection Menu Students choose assignment to complete from those that you have made available in your course

20 Easy, intuitive navigational bar Students complete the assignment by: Entering the answer to the question Clicking the back/next arrows in navigational bar to move through questions Clicking the grade checkmark when they’re done

21 Upon submitting their assignment for grading you can provide students with immediate scores on their work * * * *

22 Provide students with question-by-question feedback for correct and incorrect answers

23 The instructor gradebook area allows you to : View grades for individual students or your entire class View class averages Export grades to an external spreadsheet or database

24 The Gradebook allows you to display the results of a class assignment in a wide variety of ways By selecting a student’s name you can pull up detailed information for that student on a particular assignment

25 Shows student and class information Shows details of the assignment history for the student Shows: Grade received Date taken Completion time

26 eGrade allows you to give question-by- question comments to a student Good job John. You were the only student to get this right. Please consider becoming a tutor. eGrade allows you to manually change a student’s grade I’m going to give everyone in the class that got this right extra credit because we did not cover this problem in the lecture. 2
