Question 4: James Bodkin

 The Core Audience for our film is the age group of year olds. The reason for this is because the narrative and plot relates to this group of people, so the film immediately becomes appealing.  Complex Narratives are common in Thriller films, however, I feel that this would not limit the audience because the plot is relatable, therefore more easy to interpret.

 I feel that the film would appeal more to Male audiences due to the lack of female characters, amount of aggression or threat, and the masculinity of the themes within the film.  For example, the protagonist gets beaten and tied up in a garage. This may not be considered to be appealing by female audiences.

 The main age group for our film is the year olds. The reason for this is because the narrative and plot relates to this group of people, so the film immediately becomes appealing.  People in this age group also are most likely to go to a cinema to watch a film, improving box office takings.  A good example of this is Kidulthood (Noel Clark, 2006), which attracted a very wide audience because it was aimed younger people.  The certificate of the film also contributes to the age group. The content of our film should not make the film any higher than a 15, possibly a 12.

 A good example of a film that is very similar to ours is Bullet Boy (Saul Dibb, 2004). The gritty drama Bullet Boy tells how two brothers living in a harsh poverty stricken area of London become involved in a vicious cycle of violence after an incident on the street (taken from Rotten Tomatoes).Rotten Tomatoes  This description shows that our film is very similar to Bullet Boy, such as the lower class societal themes and the ‘vicious cycle of violence’.  Bullet Boy attracted their audience by using Production Companies such as BBC Films, UK Film Council and Shine. BBC Films attract the audience by promoting them on BBC Television programmes that are popular (for example, The One Show, Film 24 etc.).
