1 H OW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS ?

2 G ENDER R EPRESENTATION Our protagonist is played by a young male which is who we wanted our character to be. Stereotypically, young males are known to dress smartly, and are usually quite tall which is what our protagonist is. However we do go against some stereotypes due to men being stereotyped to always being ‘masculine’. In our opening title sequence, our protagonist is seen running in fear not showing a more ‘masculine’ role. Also with our protagonist being a young male, it also helps attract our audience which despite it being for viewers over the age of 15 and for both genders, boys are stereotypically said to be more interested in the thriller genre because it usually includes stereotypical ‘masculine’ features, not so much appealing to females who are stereotypically said to enjoy more ‘feminine’ films such as rom-coms and dramas.

3 A GE R EPRESENTATION We wanted our protagonist to be between the ages of 25 to 28. This is important as we wanted to make our actor look and act this age as much as possible. His hair is styled neatly wearing smart black clothing representing him as a mature character. This makes him look like just a normal young male which is our aim. This is because there is a lot more to this protagonist so making him appear as a stereotypical young male shocks the audience when we see more to him.

4 C LASS R EPRESENTATION I believe our protagonist represents the working- class effectively as although he is dressed smartly and looks mature, his casual shoe wear shows that he’s not as wealthy as he may appear to be. Our protagonist also follows a lot of working- class stereotypes. This is because working-class families are stereotyped to always have divorced parents or have an abusive partner involved and issues such as this. When our protagonist has his good flashback turn to a bad one, we see him as a young boy hid behind a door shocked as we hear a woman scream hinting towards the idea that there is domestic violence in the household, stereotypically working-class.
