2 The main audience we would aim to attract with 'Binary would be people aged between 15 - 30. We believe that the type of people that would watch our film would be people that are usually fans of thriller films, with lots of different twists. We feel that it is important to attract people that have a general interest in the genre we are trying to portray (Psychological thriller) The type of people that come to watch Binary will probably be watching it mainly because of a broader interest. For example they may come to watch it because they have liked other movies that the director of Binary has produced. This could also be the case with people coming to watch the film because of a certain big name star that is featured or starring in it. This would apply to Binary, as the movie plans to have many big name stars in it, in order to attract fans. We also feel a huge contributing factor to the type of people that will come and watch Binary is ‘Word of mouth’. We aim to publicise and advertise Binary very heavily, in order to make sure people see it, and discuss it with there friends of family. This effect would make Binary circulate through possible audiences very quickly, this is why we feel ‘word of mouth’ would be a massive contribution to the type of people that come and watch Binary. Obviously the biggest factor to the type of people we are trying to attract comes with the genre of the film, we will mainly attract people that are interested and have previously enjoyed psychological thrillers like Binary, one collection of audience we expect to come and watch Binary would be people who were fans of the movie ‘Seven’ starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman, or ‘The Butterfly Effect’ starring Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart. Because our film is a mainstream film, we are likely to attract a huge range of different people coming to watch our film, however, as the film has a certificate of 15, the age of people coming to watch our film will start at 15+ and we expect it to realistically end around 40 year olds.

3 The rating we have given Binary is a 15. This is because there is a chance it could contain strong violence, frequent strong language (e.g f***, s*** etc) and discriminatory language and/or behaviour. This also helps us improve the range of our target audience, as it attracts to more people that can understand and watch the film. Similar film: A similar film to ours would be a film like kill bill. I believe this because there is a strong female lead, just like Binary. This brings in audiences from both genders as males will enjoy action aspect of the film, whereas the females will enjoy and appreciate the female dominance shown in the movie.

4 Due to the story line, and the need of focus during the film in order to understand what is going on, we thought it would be inappropriate to make Binary suitable for children, as they may not understand the film and they may lack the attention span in order to keep focused, and understand what is going on. The storyline is mildly complex, and due to this, we feel the movie would be best aimed towards teenagers past the age of 15 (due to there being a 15 certificate rating) all the way to people aged 40 to maybe even 50 years of age. The movie could be suitable for a huge range of people, as it is a storyline which attracts anyone that is interested in psychological thrillers. However we feel like the main target audience would be women 20-30, this is due to the film having a strong female lead, of which will attract females to come and watch. We feel the slightly complex nature of the film and the narrative would not limit the potential audience, but in fact increase it. This is because we feel that the twists and turns in the film, would take everyone watching the film on a journey, and leave them thinking ‘Who done it’ throughout the film (Due to the film being about a mother finding out who killed her sons fiancé and best man) Throughout the film things will be explained to make sure that fans do not get confused. It is important to make sure that the majority of people watching the film leave with a great understanding of the film, in order to gain a positive word of mouth, and to also attract more audiences, as it can appeal to anybody that has an interest in Thrillers. We thought that the film would attract to females more than males. This is because the main focus of Binary is based around a women, with the exception of Allison's son Tom, who would be played by a young, good looking actor anyway, which would also appeal to girls aged 19-25. Because of the characters and the modern nature of the film there is a possibility the potential audience of the film could be limited to women and young people. However there is a high chance males will still want to see the film, as most males enjoy being thrilled, and enjoy the chance of having a adrenaline rush, something Binary hopes to provide. There is also a chance the female actors would be played by attractive women, and this could also interest men to come along and watch. The age group of the audience of our film, has a chance of being quite narrow, however if Alison was played by an older actor, the film might appeal to slighter older audiences. Older people and men would probably be our secondary audience, however we still feel that we would have a lot of interest from people like that as they may want to watch due to their interest in psychological thrillers.
