“Drugs” A drug is a substance which may have medicinal, intoxicating, performance enhancing or other effects when taken or put into a human body or the body of another animal and is not considered a food or exclusively a food. Most people are willing to take some risks, and using drugs and alcohol is no exception. But when alcohol or other drugs become an escape upon which you rely upon, it can be dangerous to your mental and physical health. People try drugs because of curiosity, hedonism, social pressures, youth culture and ignorance. The illegal drugs that people are most likely to try are: Cannabis, Cocaine, Amphetamine, Nitrites poppers, Cocaine, Ecstasy, LSD, Magic mushrooms, Solvents (aerosols, gases and glues), Minor tranquillizers (not prescribed), Heroin, Crack, Cocaine.

How drugs affect your health Drugs can appear initially to have positive effects – lifting your mood, relaxing you or even giving you more energy. However, they can also have negative impacts on your mental and physical health, your relationships, and your life in general. If you are taking drugs, it is possible you believe that you can manage the effects of the drugs and that you can deal with the impact it has on your life. Taking drugs might make you feel good, and there may not even appear to be any immediate consequences to taking the drug. Sometimes some of these impacts might appear over time and as circumstances in your life or your use of drugs changes.
