4 th grade parent meeting MRS. DOTY’S CLASS

Mrs. Doty Hello, my name is Tasha Doty. I am so excited to teach fourth grade at Mustang Valley. It is my goal to offer a year full of exciting and rewarding learning experiences. Let me tell you a little about myself. I moved here with my husband from Arizona in 2010 and graduated with my teaching degree from OU. I started my teaching career in Oklahoma City. In January I will be celebrating my 5 year anniversary. We have 3 dogs Molly, Stitch, and Lilith; these are my children.

Snacks  We will have a snack time everyday at 10:20. Please send a heathy snack daily to school with your child. Be aware that we have a nut allergy in the classroom when sending a snack with your student.

I encourage you to read and review the information carefully to familiarize yourself with the district policies and procedures. The book also contains our internet, discipline, and dress code procedures. Before you leave please sign the handbook sheet that you understand this is available to you online.

Expectations My expectations are that the students will work hard on their assignments and follow directions. My classroom rules are the 8 expectations which they have been using their whole time here. I will GE summary to you tonight.

Grades A B C D F 60 and below Grades will be posted by Sunday each week. ( Can be viewed on Parent Portal). I will allow redo work for grades of a 69 or below, these will be averaged with the new grade. Example: if student A receives a 68 on an assignment and the redo grade is an 86 their average will be 77.5 or a 78. Late assignments will be graded like a normal assignment. Absent work: Student will get however many days absent to return their work. Example: Student A absent 2 days, they will have 2 days to return their work.

Textbooks These are checked out to each student, they are responsible for the maintenance and care of their textbook. Just like with borrowed library books, if a textbook is lost or damaged it is the family’s responsibility to replace the book. TESTING It is imperative that your student is in attendance during testing, plan doctor’s visits, etc.. Around testing.

Parties We have 2 parties a year Christmas and Valentine’s. I will be having the HR parent contact volunteers to help. If you would like to volunteer for these in advance please let me know via so that I can share the information with my HR parents. Again use the classroom directory to distribute birthday invitations.

Communication I will do the majority of my communication via and with a weekly newsletter. The newsletter will have important dates as well as what I will be teaching the following week.
