Welcome to World Cultures! Chisholm Trail MS, 6 th Grade

About Mrs. Boen This is the 26 th year at CTMS Have taught 6th,7th,and 8 th grades-Reading, Language Arts, and World Cultures Married to Ed 3 children: Justin, Jenna, Jordyn 2 dogs: Honey, Macey and 7 puppies! Moved to Round Rock when in 7 th grade Graduated from Round Rock High Southwest Texas State University-1985

What is World Cultures? A study of the governments, economies, geography, and cultures of the world’s regions.

Course Organizer & Unit Outlines

Classroom Expectations Come prepared to learn. Observe school rules. Use your own books and supplies. Give your best effort. Always follow instructions. Respect the rights, feelings, and property of others. Strive for self-control.

Supplies Needed 3 folders (pocket & brads) Binder with pen, pencil, and paper Agenda ISN-Interactive Student Notebook Textbook in desk

Classroom Procedures Enter room and get ISN folder Make sure there is a textbook in your desk Write agenda Date and title ISN Begin Preview Participate and Learn!

Interactive Student Notebook (Passport) The ISN is an organized, logical tool to help you better understand World Cultures. Bring one folder to class tomorrow and keep the others in your locker until we need them. Together, we will set up our ISN tomorrow.

Before School Expectations Car, bike, or walker will enter the building through the front doors. Bus riders enter from the back doors. If arriving before 7:45- go to cafeteria At 7:45 bell all students go directly to Boen Team waiting area/hallway. Band and Orchestra students can put their instruments up and then go directly hallway. If you plan to eat breakfast at school, go directly to cafeteria and come to hallway when finished eating.

Before School Procedures All students will remain indoors upon arrival. Keep all personal items with you until the 8:15 bell rings. Students needing to go to the library will need to get a pass from the teacher monitoring the hallway. All students will engage in safe and appropriate behavior. Main office will not open to students until 8:20.

Cafeteria Procedures Walk with 3 rd period teacher and sit with team Bring Student ID Walk and talk with classroom voice in hallway and cafeteria When all students are seated they will be dismissed by tables to get in lunch lines Remain seated unless you are throwing away trash, getting utensils, going to restroom (ask permission), using microwave Following these rules and procedures will allow students to sit anywhere once proper behavior is observed over a period of time. Yes, you can be tardy to lunch period

Locker Usage Expectations Lockers are a privilege! Keep locker combo private and do not share lockers! Store backpacks in lockers at all times. Take care of business quickly! Keep lockers free of trash, graffiti, and vandalism! Report locker problems to Main Office! Do not set locks! Be respectful of the person above/below you!
