Basic Skill

pass

The overhead pass is generally employed to redirect the ball with the most accuracy offered by any skill in volleyball. It is most frequently used by a setter as a team’s second contact. The setter “places” a ball above.

pass Forearm passing is the key to the beginning of any team’s offensive system. It is generally a team’s first contact and assists in reducing the speed of the ball when passing to the setter.

Note of forearm pass The forearm pass involves rebounding the ball off of the forearm. The ball will rebound at the angle form which it is hit but in the opposite vertical and/or horizontal direction. back

Dig

Dig The dig usually used when the ball is hit from a full speed attack. A defensive player must get to the ball so the setter has opportunity to convert the ball to an offensive play. The body is always in a low position when digging. The digger may already be in a low position, perfectly anticipating the attacker’s hit; emergency techniques such as dives and rolls may also be used. back

Serve The serve is the skill used to put the ball into play. It must go over the net and into the opponents’ court. The serve is the only technique used in the game over which the player has complete control because it is begun by the player holding the ball. Over lapping of positions cannot occur at the moment of service. Overlapping is determined by the position of players’ feet.

Serve 发球动作 A foot position that allows for a larger base of support in the direction of the movement gives added stability. Having the opposite foot from the serving arm forward provides greater front to back balance. Ball trajectory is determined by the height at which the ball is contacted as well as how close to the net the contact is made.

Spike The culmination of a team’s attack is the spike. How and where the spike contacts the ball determines the team’s final total endeavor.

Factors influence the flight of the ball during the attack 1) where the ball is contacted 击球点的 位置 2) the direction of the hitter’s am swing 进攻队员的摆臂方向 3) the force applied to the ball through the hand 击球的力量

Block single triple double

block 1Blocking is a skill that is reactions to attacks made by the opposing team. 2The primary objective of the block is to become the first line of defense and seal off the net. 3Positioning varies from single to double to triple block.

Multiple Block (Sometimes referred to as a composite block) Two or three players participating in the blocking attempt.

The blocking ready position The player faces the net, ten inches away from it. The feet are shoulder width apart, knees and hips are slightly flexed. The weight of body is balanced on the balls of the feet. The hands are placed in the “Mickey Mouse Ears” position, arms flexed at the elbows, fingers even with the ears, palms of the hands parallel to the net.
