5 Volleyball: How does this work in a
Volleyball is: 2 teams of 6 players separated by a net Score points by making the ball land on the opponents side Or if a team hits it out of bounds Each team can hit the ball 3 times but no player more than one time in a row

6 How do I Play? Team based game – Everyone participates
Three step offense Goal: Bump-Set-Over the Net (Spike) Goal: learn how to use the bump and the set to control the volleyball

7 Bumping or PAssing A way to pass the ball to a teammate or over the net First contact when the ball comes over the net Or when passing to a teammate Receive the ball with your forearms-Don’t swing your arms Hands together-fingers Not interlocked

8 Cues for the Bump Pass Athletic position: knees bent ready to move
Hands: Hand on hand; thumbs on top Platform: Elbows together forearms facing up Tilt your platform towards your target Allow the ball to bounce off your forearms: No swinging your arms

9 The Set: over head pass Cues for the Set
What is it?-using two hands to snap the ball upward How do I do it? Athletic position: Knees bent; ready to move Make a diamond shape window with your hands above your head: fingers spread Snap ball upward with fingers High set makes it easier for your teammates

10 Serving: Underhand serve
Put opposite leg forward Hold the ball in front of you waist high with your opposite hand Step toward your target Swing your arm and make contact with the lower 2/3 of the ball: Not the bottom Hit with your palm; NOT YOUR FIST Make sure not to touch the serving line

11 Scoring When are points scored?
When the ball lands inside the court the opposite team gets a point Whoever hits the ball out of bounds the opposite team gets the point First team to score 25 points and be ahead by 2 points wins

12 Common Fouls Carry-any time the ball is lifted or caught
Double hit-one player making contact with the ball twice in a row Touching the net-any time a player makes contact on the net during play

13 Court Side Line-run the length of side
End line-back line on both sides Center line-divides the court in half; under the net Attack Line-10 feet from centerline on both sides of the court

14 Rotation: moving players around the court
There are 6 positions Always rotate in the clockwise position Position 1 will always be in the back right corner When do I rotate? When the other team serves and my team wins the point.
