Over the course of the quarter we will be discussing studies that have used Psychology 100 students like yourself. Over the course of the quarter we will be discussing studies that have used Psychology 100 students like yourself.

What do you need to do? REP accounts for approximately 10% of your final grade. You get the choice of two options: – –1) Research Option – –2) Paper Option Either option will require 7 hours of your time. You can also obtain up to 3 hours for extra credit, for a total of 10 hours, in either option. Please note: You CANNOT do a combination of the options. You must pick or the other!

Experiment Option You will be asked to sign up for at least 7 hours of experiments Most experiments offer.5 hours of credit, but there are some that offer 1 hour or more Signing up for experiments can all be done online! ( state.edu/) state.edu/

Logging In and Registering

Experiment Option Before registering with the REP website, please look over the Research Option syllabus (a link is located on the website). – –Keep in mind, you will need to schedule multiple experiments over the quarter. Make sure you have the availability.

Experiment Option After registering with the REP website, you will be asked to pick one of the options: Experiment or Paper. –September 26 th –You must select an option before September 26 th ; otherwise, it is assumed you will be completing the Experiment Option

Experiment Option After you are registered and have chosen the Experiment Option, you can begin enrolling in experiments. REMINDER: Experimenters will be posting experiments throughout the quarter, so try to check the online schedule several times a day!

What will I be asked to do? Experimenters may ask you to play a game on the computer, watch video clips, or even simply fill out questionnaires. You can get an idea of what will be asked of you by clicking on the experiment code.

What is a debit? If you do not show up to a scheduled REP experiment or you are late, you can receive a debit. A debit subtracts the experiment’s value from your total hours. –For example: If you have 6 hours and you don’t show up to an experiment that is worth 1 hour, you will now only have 5 hours.

Canceling Experiments If something comes up, you can cancel an experiment; however, you must do so 24 hours in advance. Your Experiment Schedule

Experiment Option Want some easy extra credit? – –You also have the option of receiving.5 extra credit hours just by filling out a series of online questionnaires. – –Just click on the “Prescreening” link located under the “Enroll” tab. – –Prescreening will be available on Friday, September 21 st, and must be completed by September 26th. NOTE: You can receive a total of 3 extra credit hours. We highly recommend it!

Other Benefits of Prescreening Not only can you receive extra credit, but you also may be invited to participate in experiments that you otherwise could not. A majority of students are not invited, thus if you do not complete prescreening or are never contacted by an experimenter, you will still have many opportunities to complete your hours. Please note that you are in no way obligated to complete the prescreening.
