7 The Coliseum is an amphitheater. It holds a combination of both arches, and columns. They used the Coliseum for gladiator games which were brutal, cruel and a huge part of Roman culture.

9  In Roman Villas, the entrance to house normally had beautiful floors, sometimes they had mosaics(art being created out of small pieces of colored glass, stone or other material.) Artisans did intricate designs all over the houses.  Roman artist used frescoes(paint on wet plaster) to help brighten walls in homes.  Decorated their gardens with fountains and sculptures. › Honored their gods and goddesses through sculpture.

10  Most homes in Rome were filled with portraits. The Romans also believed that having good pictures/sculptures of somebody’s face, was important to keep their ghost happy; so they wouldn’t haunt them.

12 Macadam roads- roads that were built with a smooth hard surface that would be more durable and less muddy than soil based tracks. Arch bridge- bridge with curved arches at each end that help transfer weight from one side to the other, to keep the bridge stable. Aqueducts- similar to a bridges; used to carry water across the city. one of the greatest souvenirs of Roman engineering.
