1 CEFPI is a Registered Provider with The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education Systems (AIA/CES). Credit(s) earned on completion of this program will be reported to AIA/CES for AIA members. Certificates of Completion for both AIA members and non-AIA members are available upon request. This program is registered with AIA/CES for continuing professional education. As such, it does not include content that may be deemed or construed to be an approval or endorsement by the AIA of any material of construction or any method or manner of handling, using, distributing, or dealing in any material or product. Questions related to specific materials, methods, and services will be addressed at the conclusion of each presentation.

2 Learning Objectives Disaster and Recovery Planning At the end of this program, participants will be able to: 1.Understand issues that can help organizations and communities be proactive in planning before disaster strikes. 2.Understand a model for organizing and engaging local and displaced citizens in recovery. 3.Understand how to plan for setting up a command center when all normal infrastructure is not functioning. 4.Consider school-oriented vulnerabilities and risks and actively engage in assessing and preparing for restoration of services after a disaster.

3 Learning Objectives Master Planning for the Urban Environment At the end of this program, participants will be able to: 1.Outline the essential elements of engaging the community in decision- making. 2.Identify the issues involved in locating 850-student schools on 2-acre urban sites. 3.Understand how a major building program can accelerate while complying with funding parameters from multiple sources. 4.Understand a model for bringing myriad city agencies together for collaboration to support a massive building program.

4 Learning Objectives Expanding Parental Options and Accountability At the end of this program, participants will be able to: 1.Understand the background of how we got here. 2.Have a perspective on our biggest challenges. 3.Understand how to improve our system of schools. 4.Have greater knowledge about why charter schools are an emerging force in education.

5 Learning Objectives Fostering Healthy and Sustainable Educational Facilities At the end of this program, participants will be able to: 1.Identify current research into the key effects of buildings on occupants. 2.Describe several methods for engaging the occupants with the operation of the building. 3.Communicate IAQ issues in school buildings to the educational professionals within schools. 4.Describe how IAQ programs and improvements were implemented in New Orleans schools.
