3 Adverbs He’s a careful driver. (adj.) (noun)
(Adjective – describes a noun) He drives very carefully. (verb) (Adv) (Adverb – describes a verb) An adverb is a word that tells us more about a verb.

4 Adverbs An adverb is a word that tells us more about a verb. Examples:
The man ran quickly. She moved slowly and spoke quietly. I watch them closely. I play well. I walk carefully.

5 Adverb The verb is ran. Now, HOW did Jason run? He ran quickly.
The word quickly tells us HOW Jason ran. Quickly MODIFIES the verb. In this sentence, then, quickly is the adverb.
