University of St Andrews Students Opportunities to study abroad: European exchanges through Erasmus+ Overseas exchanges: St Andrews Abroad Programme & Subject Specific Exchanges Opportunities to work abroad (for credit): With Integrated Year Abroad (WIYA) (Erasmus & Non-Erasmus) Chemistry Industrial Placement (Erasmus & Non-Erasmus) ERASMUS+ – students studying or working in Europe may be funded by the European Union Scholarships – some exchanges have scholarships attached

To study abroad: Usually Junior Honours (3 rd year) Either a semester or a year Some students spend year abroad in two different places Many exchanges are competitive, especially IR Strong academic record in 1 st year, application and possibly interview Study abroad credit and grades converted – count toward degree result Study abroad placement information is shown on final transcript To work abroad: Usually students in the Schools of Modern Languages or Chemistry Students usually work abroad for a full year Modern Languages: English Language Teaching Assistants (some host countries specify UK culture background) ‘Own’ work placement Chemistry: Industrial Placements

Students attending a North American College/University can study abroad at St Andrews in their ‘Junior’ year Exchange: St Andrews has a number of European and worldwide exchange partners including 11 North American partners Exchange students must be nominated by their home institution to attend St Andrews International Study Abroad Programme: Semester or year-long Standard Programme Fee attached for all students £15,460 (year) or £7,730 (semester) plus accommodation costs More details on Collaborations & Study Abroad website: www.st-andrews.ac.uk/studyabroad

Visiting students usually: Study for either a semester or a year Students are usually ‘Juniors’ (in their third year at college) Strong academic record – GPA 3.2+ or equivalent Students gain credits and grades at St Andrews which are converted and count towards your final degree at home Students can apply to Arts, Divinity or Science but not Medicine In particular, we welcome a large number of North American students each year So if you decide not to attend St Andrews for the full degree, remember that you can still spend a semester or year with us!
