17 2003 It is with great sadness that we record the passing of one of the founders of MAHSLIN, Paul Vaiginas, in January of this year. Paul started his medical library career at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in 1970, moving on to the Deaconess Hospital in When Deaconess Hospital merged with Beth Israel in 1996, Paul helped to ease the consolidation of the two libraries and their perspective staffs with great humor and humanity. While not at all an inclusive list, some of the notables are Alison Clapp, Chris Bell, Florence Mercer, Anita Loscalzo, Sydney Fingold, Jay Daly, Denise Corless, Debbie Almquist, Teri Niland, Jeannie vander Pyl, Gale Cogan, Cara Marcus, Elaine Alligood, Margo Coletti, and the list goes on. And in the last decade, new leaders have stepped up – Brandy King, Sally Gore, Nathan Norris, Jane Ichord, Dan McCloskey, and so many others who will define the direction of knowledge management in years to come – Melinda Marchand, MAHSLIN Archives Chair
