Please find your assigned seats (Roughly ordered by last name)  BEGINNING OF THE ALPHABET END OF THE ALPHABET 

Daily Routine 1.When you walk in, take out your homework and notebook and start responding to the warm- up. 2.When the bell rings, I will turn off the music and count down from 5. Students that are not writing in their notebooks will be first to share during whole class discussion. 3.You will have 3-5 minutes to respond to the warm-up before we move on to whole-class discussion. 4.Homework will be collected as you are responding to the warm-up (unless we are reviewing the homework later in class).

Calling Cards Your name is written on a card. For whole class discussions, I will randomly select a card. If your name is selected, you must respond! You are not allowed to say “I don’t know,” you must think of something relevant to share.

Class Rules (Abbreviated) Rule #1: One Speaker Rule #2: Don’t be a Jerk

Cell Phone Policy 1 st Strike: Put it on silent and put it in your backpack!  Not in your pocket or purse.  If you complain, see 2 nd Strike. 2 nd Strike: Confiscation

Bathroom Policy Trips to the bathroom should be addressed either before or after class. I will not allow anyone to leave in the first or last 10 minutes of class. When you need to use the bathroom, put a peace sign in the air. After I acknowledge that I’ve seen you, write a pass in your agenda book. Bring me the pass to sign during the next class transition (do NOT bring me a pass in the middle of instruction). Only one student is permitted to use the bathroom at any given time (So don’t be the bama that’s gone for 30 minutes).

Simmer Down Seats If you have repeatedly broken rules 1 and/or 2, I may move you to another desk. You will pick up your belongings and go straight to the assigned desk, no complaints.  If you are sent to a simmer down seat and you demonstrate exemplary behavior for the rest of class, you may return to your seat the following day.  If you complain rather than going straight to the seat, you will stay at the assigned zone for an extended period of time (typically the rest of the week and possibly into the following week).  If you continue to demonstrate poor behavior (breaking rules 1 and 2), you will stay at the assigned seat for an extended period of time.

Bell doesn’t dismiss you… I DO! I will dismiss you when class ends. Students that are packing up or off task in the waning minutes of class may be subject to a different seat for the following class.

Due Dates and Deadlines Due dates will be established for all assignments. The deadline for all assignments (unless otherwise stated) is one week from the due date. Students will incur a 10% deduction for every week day that the assignment is missing starting from the original due date. For example, if an assignment is due on Thursday, a student will be deducted a total of 10% on Friday, 20% on Monday, 30% on Tuesday, 40% on Wednesday, and 50% on Thursday (the final day that the assignment can be turned in). I am willing to listen to legitimate requests for extensions, but only if you tell me ahead of time. I reserve the right to deny an extension request.

HOMEWORK!  Bring in your summer reading assignment.  Review the syllabus.  Familiarize yourself with my blog misterdinh.blogspot.com  (Optional): Follow my Twitter account (twitter.com/mister_dinh) for assignment reminders and important class updates
