2. 1.1Why did you use a computer? What other systems / resources could you have used? I used a computer because it was easy to get the information for my work I did this by researching I could do this by going on google. It also easy because if you make a mistake you do not have to restart the entire project however if you make a mistake with pen and paper you will have to restart also when you are writing it may not be neat however when you are using computer it is very neat. I would of used paper to make a poster however this would be more difficult because it is more time consuming.

3. 1.2What skills did you need to learn in order to use PowerPoint? I needed to learn how to use transition on slides. Also I learned how to add charts and videos I did this by going into the smiths wood video and picture folder and then transport them to my presentation. I needed to know these skills because without these skills I would not be able to correctly create a good presentation. I needed a good presentation because otherwise it would of looked boring and not appealing to the view ers of the presentation without pictures or videos it will look very plain, also having a chart in my presentation is a good way of showing information.

4. 1.2What resources did you need to make the presentation successful? I needed internet for the research of my information to extract into my presentation. Videos and images are in the shared area they are used to show people what something looks like. I used the program PowerPoint I used this because it is easier to add images and videos this is better for people because you do not have to describe as much as the photo. I used the internet and shared area to get information because there is a wide range of information to collect and use in the presentation, however I had to re arrange the words so I did not copy and paste it.

5. 1.4What factors might have affected how well you completed the presentation? (e.g. time / attendance / knowledge of software) Some disadvantages of my presentation is that I was absent for some of the lessons this meant that I missed some vital information that could possibly make my work better. another disadvantage of the quality of my presentation could be that I didn’t listen enough in lesson, this ended in me not doing work for half of the lesson. However some advantages are that the teacher helped me whenever I was stuck also a lot of information came from the internet this was because I extracted information and put it in my own work. Even though I was absent for a few days I made up this time by going to catch up sessions after school.

6. 1.6Why did you use PowerPoint to make your presentation? What other software was available? Why did you choose not to use them? I could of used publisher however that would be more difficult because I would have had to print off the presentation which would not be effective when using Power point I can send it over email. I used PowerPoint to make my presentation because it is much easier to create slides, than word it is easier because when using slide transitions it is creative because it moves through the slides more smoothly and more excitingly. I used PowerPoint because there is different ways to send the file for example sending the file through email. When using PowerPoint you can use videos however with word you can only import images which means you have to have a lot of images if you are showing a building for example a school to make up for not having a video. Also PowerPoint allows information to be scattered through different slides so when it is opened it looks more neat and less scary for year 6 student because they don’t see the words all at once.

7. 1.7Were there any legal constraints or local constraints that changed the way you created your presentation? (e.g. copyright, file sizes, AUP) Copyright is where people cannot use certain things that are copyrighted for example music and films. You can only use the copyrighted product if the owner gives you permission. The owners of the copyrighted product may report you for using their images without permission. This mattered because images that I wanted to use could have been copyrighted. So I got the photos from the shared area because the images were not copyrighted. File sizes matter because if the file is to big when sending it through for example email it may not send because emails may have a limit on how much Megabyte an email can hold. The videos were low quality because the ingots website does not allow a high amount of megabytes.

8. 2.2Which tools within PowerPoint made it appropriate for your presentation? With power point you can add hyperlinks which once you click on the link takes you to a webpage this is easier than other programs because it does not take as long, it is instant. This is because you do not have to manually put the URL in, it will automatically take you to the webpage. Power point has slide transition which has different features allowing the screen to move to the next page in different ways this is good because it is entertaining to younger kids and to adults it is not as boring as a normal slide transition. You can add videos to the slides to make the presentation much more interesting than pages of text this way you do not lose the viewers interest.

9. 2.4What improvements do you think you could do to your presentation? My presentation is good in some aspects because it has a lot of information. However some better quality pictures could be added to improve the presentation. The charts are not as clear as they could be also on some slides I could get charts with a higher resolution. There could be a bit more detail into my information. This makes it better for the year 6 pupils because I am giving them more knowledge about the school. I could improve all of these things if I had extra time for example I could go to after school lessons. I would get better pictures and charts to improve my presentation. If I was allowed to upload bigger files the videos would be in better quality also I could upload more videos or more charts.

10. 3.2What improvements do you think you could have done to improve your work rate? (keyboard shortcuts, file names & locations, backups, work after school, templates, planning) I could have used keyboard shortcuts for example using ctrl+c and then ctrl + v to copy and paste. This make getting down information a lot easier. File names could also help you find the files more easily. This could increase how much work you do because if you locate the file quickly this way you have more time to add detail into your work. I would have completed my work much quicker if I went to after school catch up. This way I would not be behind, when you are in catch up the teacher can help you instead of going to other pupils. Also I could of done homework because it would of gave me more time on my work. I could also have managed my distraction in lesson because I could of spent my time working instead of talking.
