2 1.1Why did you use a computer? What other systems / resources could you have used? If I didn’t have a computer I could have used a pen and paper to make a poster instead of a computer but I didn’t use paper and pen or pencil because this way I wouldn’t waste paper and it looks the same multiple times. If I didn’t have a computer I’d make an assembly to talk about what is being offered. But I wouldn’t do this in an assembly because they might miss out on half of the information if they listen where as if I use a computer its right in front of them and they can read it for themselves. I used a computer to get continuity on my design and I can start over without wasting paper if I make a mistake and I can just make one version and multi-print the product.

3 1.2What skills did you need to learn in order to use PowerPoint? In order for me to use PowerPoint I had to learn how to use slide master to keep every slide to the same standard and layout. I even had to learn how to compress the file size so I could send it through email. I had to learn some keyboard shortcuts to speed up my work pace and get the work done quicker. I had learned how to present the presentation so it would be suitable for an audience of ten to twelve year olds.

4 1.2What resources did you need to make the presentation successful? To make the presentation for the children I created it on PowerPoint to display my work. The pictures I have used were pictures of staff and students that I had found on Google or in the shared area on the school system as well as the video to show the children the teachers and school and how the school system works was found on shared area. This way they were easy to locate and this way I wouldn’t have been subject to copyright by the website I get the image off.

5 1.4What factors might have affected how well you completed the presentation? (e.g. time / attendance / knowledge of software) Factors that affect my work are things like distractions around me like people talking, walking around and throwing things. Going to my drum lessons so my work wasn’t complete to as high a standard as I want. Exams are another factor to slow my work pace down because I wouldn’t be here for a full lesson to even start do develop my work and trips will affect it because I wont be in school to do the work. When the teacher talks for 10 minutes at the start of every lesson affects my work because the more the teacher talks at the start of the lesson the less work I would be able to do.

6 1.6Why did you use PowerPoint to make your presentation? What other software was available? Why did you choose not to use them? I used PowerPoint because there are different methods for the presentation and it will be clear and concise I could use slide master to keep it all the same layout and there are certain tools you can use on PowerPoint that you cant use on any of the other documents like Videos, Hyperlink Button, Slides and Background/Layout. But I would have used Publisher because that way it can all stand out on 1 page and it will use less paper even if I make a leaflet I am still saving paper because all of the information isn’t on multiple pages it’s on one page. I didn’t use publisher because it would be overcrowded with information and if I use PowerPoint it can be equally spread on each page.

7 1.7Were there any legal constraints or local constraints that changed the way you created your presentation? (e.g. copyright, file sizes, AUP) Legal constraints can affect my work because if I am using items that are copyrighted it means that it belongs to someone else and I can’t use these pictures unless I have permission from the people who have uploaded them. File sizes can affect my work because if I have to email the presentation to someone and it’s too big you would have to find a video of a smaller size but it wouldn’t be as good as you would want. Acceptable Use Policy is a set of rules you have to follow set for you saying what you can and can’t do so you couldn’t go on other peoples users and lose their work.

8 2.2Which tools within PowerPoint made it appropriate for your presentation? I used tools like Hyperlinks- to go the required slide of presentation or webpage beneficial to presentation so the audience can switch from the first to preferred slide. Videos- shows what is being given or published or talked about for example showing the year 6’s around the school. This is better because you literally cant describe what the school looks like but with a video you can show it all. Backgrounds- can be a picture to fit in with the topic or a colour to make it all stand out. This means it has more colour to stand out and if you use a background you can be orderly and keep all slides the same Layout- helps you position the text so it is easily located and simple to read. As well as pictures so its not covering anything and it is presentable and suitable for the year 6’s to understand.

9 2.4What improvements do you think you could do to your presentation? I could use the same background throughout EVERY slide because the first slide is a white background and the other slides have a black background. Because this way I can have consistency throughout the presentation. Also I would use only one colour for the text because on slides 6 and 7 there are various colours to make it look untidy and possibly difficult to read so of it is the same colour it looks professional. If I wanted it to be the same I would either have a picture on every slide or none at all because it seems ridiculous having some slides showing what your telling and some not having this purpose especially since there is one video in the presentation.

10 3.2What improvements do you think you could have done to improve your work rate? (keyboard shortcuts, file names & locations, backups, work after school, templates, planning) To improve my work rate I could have used more keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Y, Ctrl+S. I could have also zipped my files to send them easier. I could have made sure I saved all my properties i.e. pictures, videos in the same places. I would even make the pictures a better quality by enlarging the pictures that are on the shared area or by going on the website to get a bigger size picture or better pictures all together.
