 Attendance is posted in the computer at 8:00 am. I will have an attendance folder that I will go through each day and mark those that are absent or present. This will be for kept on file for my records.  Students will have cards that have their name and a picture of themselves on them. When they arrive to class they are to take their card and move it from the “at home” side to the “at school” side. This will allow me to quickly go through and take attendance. Tardiness (excused/unexcused)  The office will handle excused and unexcused absences accordingly  If a student comes in after attendance has been posted, they are to first go through the office and then they should be escorted to class by an adult.

I will allow bus riders pick of their daily binders any get their backpacks together and once they have gathered their things and quietly returned to their seats, I will then allow car riders to pick up their binders and get their things together. Both bus riders will be escorted to their destination once we have been instructed to do so. (I will have the educational channel playing while we wait for the dismissal bell)

 Homework is distributed on an as need basis. If there is anywork that I believe needs to be completed at home and returned will be sent home in their “homework” folder (located in their daily binder)  The only work that should be completed daily is practicing the sights words for the month. Parents should go over the flashcards with their child regularly so that they can become familiar with them.  Each day I will take up every students daily binder and collect any homework from their “homework” folders.  Any work that needs to be made up must be completed during Literacy center time. If the student needs to take make up work home parents should send the work in their “Homework” folder the following day after the student returns to school.  All make-up work will be placed in the child’s cubby with their name on it, and they are to pick it up during literacy center.  Homework is distributed on an as need basis. 8  All medications (prescription and non-prescription) must be turned into the nurse’s office by a parent in the original container.  I CANNOT GIVE STUDENTS ANY MEDICATION EVEN WITH A PARENTS REQUEST

 Please feel free to visit our classroom or eat lunch with your child. I do ask that class instruction is not disrupted for personal reasons.  Parents are also allowed to volunteer in different areas in the school (Please be sure that you visit the office to sign in and get a visitors pass that must be work at any time that you are visiting our school.

1. Respect others, property, and yourself. 2. Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself. 3. Follow directions the first time they are given. 4. ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST!!

 All students’ birthdays will be posted on the birthday wall for everyone to view. On the day of a students birthday, the student will be allowed to wear the birthday crown/tiara.  Parents are allowed to brings treats for the class (please refer to the school handbook for any restrictions)  We will have a student of the week each week. The student will be chosen based upon their behavior throughout the week and the quality of their work in class.  The student will have his or he picture posted on the “wall of fame” and will also be acknowledged in the weekly news letter.

 Each student will be able receive “Big Bucks” based on good behavior, if they return any signed papers, or if they fill up their reading log. Bucks are only given not taken away.  At the end of the week they will be able to visit our classroom store to “purchase” a variety of prizes such as: candy, pencils, small toys, or a large prize. Students do not have to spend their buck on Friday, they are also allowed to save the bucks if they wish to “purchase” something of larger value.  Parents are also allowed to donate prizes to our classroom store.

 I will be using the red, yellow, and green light method of consequences. Each day students will begin the day on green.  Students will first be given two warnings before having to move to yellow.  There will only be one warning before having to move to red.  Parents will be made aware of their child’s behavior on a daily basis. What ever color your child is on at the end of the day they will color the stoplight that color and take it home each day. If your child is on yellow or red, they will write the reason why they ended up on yellow or red. I will also send home a note informing you as to what has happen.

 Students will be assigned groups by color (red, blue, green, and purple)  When working in groups students are expected to work diligently and quietly with their classmates on whatever the assignment may be.

 Small groups will meet with me during Literacy Center time. There will be a timer set in 15 min. intervals. Students will rotate each time they hear the buzzer sound. ( their stations will be posted on the front board throughout the year, and they will become familiar with it over time)  While I am working with small groups other students are working quietly in their center. Students will know that they are not to interrupt me while I am working in small groups. (I do not want this time of instruction disrupted).  Early finishers will be expected to read silently either independently or with a friend.

 Students will be expected to follow apart of rule #1, which is respect property. Meaning they should treat all items that belong to either the school, myself, or anyone else with care and love.  As far as borrowing materials from, I will have a “lost” crayon bucket that will contain any crayons that have been found on the floor after students have left. They are more than welcome to them if they need a certain color. They are however expected to return it to its rightful place.  I WILL NOT have a pencil sharpener that will be available to students. This will cut down on getting up an sharpening pencils during instruction time. I will however have pencil jars at each table containing sharpened pencils each day.  ALL CRAYONS AND PENCILS SHOULD BE RETURNED TO THE CRAYON JAR OR PENCIL CONTAINER.

 Students will be given times to visit the restroom and get water as an entire class. Unless I am made aware of any medical reasons for a student having to go multiple times throughout the day; each student is only given 2 times outside of the 3 times we go as a class.  Students would need to grab the bathroom pass and stand quietly by the door (awaiting eye contact and a head nod from me) giving them the ok to go. This keeps down on any interruptions of class instruction.

 There will be a weekly newsletter that will be sent home every Monday. This news letter will let parents know of any events that will g on during the week throughout the school and within our classroom. its will let you know what we will be doing in class in all subject areas.  Birthdays and Star student of the week will also be acknowledged.  You will receive an attached form that must be signed and returned on Tuesday showing that you have read and understand the newsletter for the week. Classwork  All work will be reviewed and stamped by me. (these stamps will either say good work or keep working)  Any work involving writing or reading will be graded. All other work will be graded upon my discretion. All art work will hung in our gallery for all to view.
