10. Balance: the visual weight and appearance of a composition/design Radial Balance radiates from a central point

11. Informal Balance: more visual weight on one side of a central axis

12. Symmetrical: identical on both sides of a central axis-mirror effect

13. Formal or approximate symmetry: visual weight appears to be equally distributed but is not identical on either side of a central axis

15. Proportion: is the comparative relationship between the parts of a whole or units to size. Does the white seem in proportion to the black? Does this image appear visually pleasing? Does any part seem to over power another? Variety: differences achieved by opposing, contrasting, changing, elaborating, or diversifying elements in a composition. Do you see different values and patterns here?

20. Create a chart listing the elements and principles as reviewed in this presentation with ads or photographs found in magazines. Label each one and paste it onto 8.5 by 11.5 pieces of paper/cardstock/construction paper to include in your portfolio. This will be a good visual reference for you and your students.
