2 Pangea It was a supercontinent from the Mesozoic and Paleozoic eras

3 Latitude Line that run east to west, and measure north to south

4 Longitude Lines that run north to south and measure east to west

5 Hemisphere Half of a sphere

6 Prime Meridian An imaginary vertical line. It will always be at 0° longitude - divides the earth into western and eastern hemispheres.

7 Equator An imaginary horizontal line around the middle of the earth. It will always be at 0° latitude – divides the earth into northern and southern hemispheres

8 Parallels Another name for latitude lines
Never going to touch (geometry)

9 Meridians Another name for longitude lines Touch at the poles

10 Absolute Location Exact spot on earth where a place can be found (this is when you use longitude and latitude together)

11 Climate Weather in a place over a long period of time

12 Tropic of Cancer 23.5°N latitude – tropical zone north of equator (OPEN THE CAN ON TOP)

13 Tropic of Capricorn 23.5°S latitude –tropical zone below the equator; southern border of the tropics

15 Arctic Circle Imaginary line of latitude, approximately 66.5˚N; marks the beginning of North Polar region

16 Antarctic Circle Imaginary line of latitude at 66.5˚S

17 International Date Line
180˚ line of longitude; where days begin Directly opposite of the Prime Meridian

18 Time Zones – 24 hours in a day = 24 time zones (based on lines of longitude)
