1. Star Students Calendar 5/21-5/25 5/23 – Kindergarten Field Day
Literacy
Our book for the week is “My Dad” and the sight words are “where & were”. Please have your child practice reading and writing their sight words at home. Our plants have sprouted and will be coming home today! The children had a great time observing their plants each day writing it. We will also finish up our study of dinosaurs this week and spend the rest of the year working on a project for the dads.
In Reading Workshop, we will continue in our Poetry Unit. We will continue to work on hearing the difference between long and short sounds.
In Writing Workshop, students will continue to work in the Personal Narrative Unit this week. Students will write their rough drafts for their personal narratives, and next week they will “publish” their writing in blank books.

Math
This week we will finish up assessing of 3rd trimester learning. Students will continue to work with building patterns, counting money, and subtraction. Please continue to practice adding and subtracting numbers up to 5 over the summer. Try and make it fun by using things outside. For example, flowers, shells, chalk, balls. Kids have fun counting and using objects to add and subtract.
