Listening – Hidden Jobs
Why was Sarah having a hard time finding a job? Why was Sarah using the same method over and over again? Why do they call them “hidden jobs”? What did Jennie do differently?

Listening – Answers She’s using a method that is not working and were she doesn’t stand out from the crowd. That’s what she knows and has been taught. The jobs are not advertised. She was more proactive. She set up an internet profile and researched the companies. She made them come to her by establishing a social media presence.

Why is the case of the person who sends out 2000 resumes incorrect for sending out so many resumes? According to the narrator, what does category 1-4 consist of (before you send out a resume)? Is his advice similar to the previous video’s advice or different?

Tips for Finding a Job 1. PROACTIVE – set up an online profile (website, Facebook page, Twitter account). 2. NETWORK – most jobs you get are through connections – websites (LinkedIn) can help. 3. RESEARCH - Before you start applying for a job. What companies are hiring? Where are they hiring? What kind of applicant are they looking for? What does the company need? How can you improve yourself to become what the company is looking for? Do some research before sending out your resume.
