2 1. Create Twitter Account
1. Create a new Twitter account (even if you already have one – it’s free). The purpose of this account is for your target industry or selected topic. Using PowerPoint, please note these items and/or address these questions. (2-3 slides should be sufficient, but you can use extra slides if you need them). Name, handle and URL of your Twitter account; Describe why you selected the name and handle, keeping in mind appropriate brand strategy for you, your target audience and your target industry. Comment on how the name for your Twitter site fits with the name of your blog. If your Twitter page/handle fits closely with your blog, why did you choose that? If it differs from your blog, why did you choose to go that direction?). Design, Photos, Graphics – Describe why you’ve used the design or background that you created for your Twitter page. Bio – determine and describe the strategy and tactics for the Twitter page bio. Tweet 2 times. Each of your tweets should include the hashtag #MKT322 (to make it easy to search for your tweets). Content should be ART (Authentic, Relevant and Timely) and appropriate for your target audience and topic. Think about the purpose and demonstrate that with the content you post, describe. Show your tweets on a slide. Provide the rationale for the content of the tweets. Your tweets and ALL MATERIAL in them MUST BE ORIGINAL. You may not copy any material from the internet or any other source to use as content posts for your twitter account or tweets. You may use photos, images from the internet or links to other posts, articles, reports, etc. if they reinforce your strategy, content and message. (1-2 slides). Post your Twitter URL in the Forum I’ve set up (under Session 5) to share with our class community. T. Simon MKT 322

2. Follow Others on Twitter - Research your target industry; find 2 different companies/leaders that actively utilize Twitter (e.g., via tweets, polls, research, promotions). Become a follower to 2 of these Tweeters. Be careful to make sure the twitter account you’re following is NOT a customer service account. Using the strategies and tactics discussed in the text and class, evaluate these Twitter profiles. be specific and highlight the content that supports your analysis and thinking. Identify the two companies by name and URL and Twitter handle. Show screenshots of their Twitter home page. Evaluate and critique the content/design of each Twitter homepage from a laptop – brand bio, color, background image, photo, and overall design for the account. Comment on what you think works well, or not, for this industry and company. Does it reinforce your perception of the brand or not? Show a couple of the most recent Tweets for each company on your slides. Using the strategies and tactics discussed in the text and class, evaluate these tweets from two perspectives (reminder – use both your PPT slides and your notes sections) Thinking like a consumer or target for each company – Are these tweets appropriate and effective for you as an intended audience? Why or why not? Thinking like a professional marketer - Evaluate and comment on the frequency and content of each company’s Tweets. Provide your thoughts on what you think the company’s strategy might be based on your insights into the industry, the consumer. Are they striving to build brand, provide customer support, promote a product, etc.? Be specific and highlight the content that supports your analysis and thinking. Answer all the questions for one company on 1-2 slides, then for the second company on the next slides (approximately 2-4 slides total). If you need to use more slides, please do so. Due Date: Post this completed assignment in eLearning by Sunday, February 18 by 11 pm. the PPT if there are problems with Cyber. No late assignments will be accepted.   Points: There are 60 points possible on this assignment. Name your file as your first name and the assignment number. E.g. Ted1. Include a title slide with your name (and nickname if you use one), the assignment and your target industry/topic. Graphics, photos that enhance your point; organization techniques that help display information clearly and effectively – See PPT Tips on class eLearning for guidance. Don’t forget to amplify on your answers using the Notes section of PPT. Be sure to add your content details in the Notes section of the PPT deck. This will help the instructor understand additional background for what you’re presenting in the main part of the slide. When the assignment directs you to “describe” something, put that support in the notes section. T. Simon MKT 322
