Questionnaire Analysis
Georgia Clark

From asking this question I have found out that I have an equal majority of male to females that answered this questionnaire. This means that I will have to aim my magazine equally to both male and female audiences.

4 7 5 From this response I have found out that the majority of people that have answered my questionnaire are aged This means that I will have a similar target audience as MediaClash meaning I am aiming to appeal to an older more ‘affluent’ audience.

6 8 I chose to ask this question as it would give me a better understanding of what people are mostly interested in about their local area and therefore most likely to read about their local magazine. From the responses to this question tell me that the majority want to see things about local events. This could also be due to the fact that most of the people that have answered this questionnaire were aged 41+ and I have to take into consideration that this is what that particular age group would be most interested in. Entertainment and local businesses had an equal majority from the remaining people who answered my questionnaire.

10 4 2 I included this question as I wanted to know what people thought was most important about a magazine and what I should really include. 50% of responses said that an engaging front cover was the most important feature on a magazine. This tells me that I should spend a lot of time perfecting my front cover as it is the most important part, my second most chosen answer was an appealing colour scheme this also tells me that if I take time thinking about the colour scheme on the front cover this will make it stronger.

This result has shown me that images are a very important feature in attracting my audience to the magazine. Therefore, when deigning my final product I will need to make sure that I support my images with articles of high quality and that my front cover then contains certain images that are needed to attract my target audience. 1 5

3 8 9 Asking this question helps me to understand what colour scheme would be the best to use in my magazine to attract my target audience. 9 people who answered my questionnaire said that they would prefer a mix of bright colours and light pastel colours , but 8 people said that they would prefer just light pastel colours, this shows me that if I use bright and bold colours I shouldn't overuse it. This also helps me to decide what colours I should decorate my front cover with as this was the second more important thing for a magazine.

11 1 4 3 This question was very important for me to ask as it helps me to work out what kinds of things my target audience would actually like to read about in a magazine, this also helps me to figure out what sort of content to include on my double page spread. 11 people said they would like to read about upcoming events and as such a large amount of people out of 19 said this it makes me think that if I asked a wider sample of people this would come out strongest there still. So, this is what I think I should feature on my double page spread.

8 10 2 From the results of this question I can see that the majority of people think a regional magazine should be prices relatively cheap. Most saying in the middle at £ Although I asked this question my plan is to make this magazine free and I just wanted to ask the question anyway to see what other peoples opinions are.

6 7 I asked this question to help me to decide what font to use in my magazine. An equal majority voted for both Sans Serif and a mixture of both. Because my regional magazine is formal my original idea was to write with a Serif font and I think I will stick to this as I think it will keep my magazine looking neat.

RESPONCES: Bath Life – 3 Home and regional magazines -2 Music magazines None -6 Q magazine V magazine Sports XXX Tugs4Jugs Zoo Carpet Weekly Future Music Viz I asked this question to help me figure out what magazines people like and then I can take notes from those magazines and see how I can apply some features they use to my magazine, for example the layout or font that they use. Bath Life was a mentioned 3 times so I will take a look through various issues of their magazine to help me. I also received a joke response ‘XXX Tugs4Jugs’ which was bound to happen when sending out my questionnaire to a wide audience and this is something large businesses must deal with on a daily basis.

5 4 1 10 I think that a lot of people chose Streets of Frome because it is unique and sounds very intriguing. I think that I will go with this name, because all the names I featured in this question were names I wanted to use and couldn’t choose from and this has helped me to decide.

7 2 4 This question helps me to understand what appeals to my target audience and what things I should consider featuring. The front cover is important to focus on as it is what my audience will see first and will make an opinion on my magazine from it straight away. My front cover should appeal to my target audience and make them want to buy it, the responses I have received have shown me that it is between a person who is featured in my magazine or food from local restaurants/cafes/food events. I am planning on using a photo of local restaurants/cafes/food events as it will go with my DPS of upcoming events and will help my magazine to link more.

3 6 1 7 I chose to ask this question because I want to include content that my audience enjoys reading about and what I should advertise in my magazine. Shopping and socialising were the two most popular answers. In this case I should advertise things like store fronts and cafes. Gardening and walking were also quite popular answers so I should include nature throughout my magazine too.

18 2 Asking this question has shown me that having a social media page for my regional magazine is very important to a lot of people. This is also a really good way for a magazine to gain a following from people it wouldn’t usually reach. I can then advertise my social media page on the billboard and website pages.

4 6 9 1 The majority of answers I received said that they used Instagram the most, therefore an Instagram page would be the most appropriate form of social media to use to advertise my magazine. However, 6 people did vote for Facebook so I should think about making a social media page for each site in order to appeal to everyone reading my magazine.

I received lots of different responses to this question as it is a very open question. A few of my responses were very similar saying that they would expect to see lots of very detailed content. Also another popular response was high quality images so I will make sure that everything that goes into my magazine will be up to a certain standard. Even though my magazine is free having a certain standard to it will make it more appealing so people will read it and more people will want to advertise in my magazine.

9 3 7 The majority of people who were asked this question said yes and another large majority said maybe and only a small amount said no. This shows me that this is something that a lot of people would like to see featured in my magazine. From finding out this information I will also try and find out what kind of columns my target audience would like to see.

6 1 10 50% of people that answered this question said that they would like to see a gallery of images on the accompanying website for my magazine. Reviews was another popular featured that I could also include on my website, I will try and e=include lots of features on my website but I will focus on trying to get these two largely voted features on there first.

10 4 6 50% of the people that answered this question said that they would download an app to go with the magazine and only 20% said they wouldn’t download it. I think I will try and make my social media pages have a good following before I start to try and make an app as this isn’t an easy process.

From asking this questions I have been given some ideas that I wouldn’t of thought of initially and that I can actually use in my magazine to make it more interesting. For example, I have received ideas like a games page featuring interactive games like Sudoku and crosswords. This is something that can be a reoccurring feature for each issue of the magazine.
