1 YOUR MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH JOSEPH GRUNDY 3 RD PERIOD MARCH 4 TH, 2013 DR. BURTON

2 WHAT IS MENTAL HEALTH?  Mental health is the way you think, feel, and the way you behave.  There are two types of mental health; good and bad.  Your mental health can describe what type of person you are. It can tell whether you are mean, nice, arrogant, caring, and etc.

3 WHAT IS EMOTIONAL HEALTH?  Emotional health is apart of Mental health.  Emotional health is when at a certain point you feel emotionally relaxed or stable.  People that are emotionally healthy tend to be more relaxed and open hearted.

4 GOOD MENTAL HEALTH  Good mental health is a person’s ability to function well and do a number of activities.  With good mental health, you can learn or process different amounts of information, you’re able to feel(have emotions), have a social life, and deal with positive and negative changes.  You’re basically a normal person that can function and handle with every day's ups and downs.

5 BAD MENTAL HEALTH  Bad mental health is when a person has a negative attitude towards things.  Bad mental health does not associate with mental disorders.  People with bad mental health tend to complain just about everything.  They tend to complain about relationships, co- workers, and many other things or situations.

6 MENTAL DISORDERS  Mental disorders are diagnosed disorders that can disturb a person’s learning ability, feelings, and the way they react to certain things.  Mental disorders can cause difficulty to concentrate, remember things, attempt or thought of suicide.  Mental disorders are diagnosed which means you wont be able to tell by looking at that person(some of the time you can) unless you go the doctor states that a person had a mental disorder

7 CAUSES OF MENTAL DISORDERS  Mental disorders don’t just pop up in anyone’s body, it depend on what your background is like.  Things that can cause mental disorders; genes/heredity, brain injury, substance abuse, just to name a few.

8 TYPES OF MENTAL DISORDERS AND EFFECTS  Anxiety disorder- people that tend to have panic/anxiety attacks have this disorder.  Eating disorder- can cause people to eat to much or not enough. This tends to deal with emotional problems.  Depression- can cause people to sit around and do nothing.  Bipolar disorder- can cause different emotions and unexpected times.  Alzheimer’s - cause loss of brain function.  Schizophrenia – hallucinations and delusions in the mind.

9 CONCLUSION  Mental health is think, feel, and can describe what type of person you are.  When you are emotionally healthy you are at a stable and relaxed state of emotion.  Bad mental health is basically you have a negative approach towards just about everything.  Mental disorders are disorders that can have abnormal function in the body.  Mental disorders can come from heredity, brain injury, substance abuse and other ways.
