4 Goals Teaching our kids how to tell time is not enough, we need to teach them how to manage their time. Teaching our kids how to count money, make change, etc. is not enough, we need to teach them how to manage their money. Teaching our kids “facts” is not enough, we need to teach them how to find the facts and then how to use them. So our goal is to: teach our kids how to use a weekly planner and how to break large assignments into manageable bits create a classroom banking system and give the students an opportunity to open up a class business create a classroom of independent workers create a classroom of students willing to accept consequences for their actions

5 Managing Money Application form (must know their complete name, address, and birth date) Checks, registers, savings book Earning money: $5 a day for attendance Classroom jobs Classroom businesses Must keep up calendar Expenses: Monthly rent Fines Shopping Consequences: Property Shopping Bank is open one day a month

6 Homework Policy Not a nightly thing… School is a full time job…for the most part, if you use your time well during the day, you will be able to go home at night to pursue sports, music, art, volunteer work, chores, family time, and good old playtime! There will be a need at times…difficulty of subject, bad day, convenience… Mantra: You have a choice of when to do it, where to do it, and how to do it but not WHETHER you will do it! Math facts: nightly until done! Using NH to show where the child needed help in completing a task. Colored pen system
