1 PRIMARY READING ASSESSMENTS Grades 1 and 2 Assessments 2015-16

2 Scores will be entered by schools into the Item Bank and Test Platform (used for BSA) accessed via Florida Single Sign On (SSO). Scores will be used for 1st and 2nd grade teachers’ Value Added Measure (VAM) Scores. All (1st, 2nd) students will participate. Prior to test entry school staff need to sign the Test Security Agreement. These forms should be held at the school STUDENT ASSESSMENT AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT What’s New?

3 Untimed Test Administration Administration Schedule Primary Reading Assessments and Make-Up Administrations: May 9-13, 2016 Schools may start on May 9 th or 10 th Schools must assess 1 session per day, over 2 days, for Reading. 4 Who is eligible? ESE students with current IEPs ELL students 504 students (Arrangements made in advance) Possible Accommodations: ADMINISTRATION ACCOMMODATIONS ESE/504 Students Presentation Responding Scheduling Setting Assistive Devices ELL Students Flexible Setting Flexible Scheduling Flexible Timing Assistance with Directions in the heritage language Approved Translation Dictionary

5 Directions for Administering (printed at school) Test Booklets Make sure the student gets the book with his/her name on it #2 Pencils Administration Record (you may make your own) “Do Not Disturb” signs Because school staff will be hand scoring and entering these exams you only need to have the student write his/her First and Last Name on the front of the booklet. 6 If any of the following occurs: 1.Cheating or disruptive behavior 2.Illness during testing 3.Student given the wrong test book 4.Defective test/answer book Write Invalid in red on the front cover of the test book. Return with the scored materials if test is invalidated. In the case of #3 and #4 provide the student with a new test book. STUDENT ASSESSMENT AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT Test Invalidation

7 Maintain a record of (you may make your own) the following: All students participating in the Primary Reading Assessments Students absent on the regular administration date The date absent students make-up the test Students whose test books are invalidated Keep a copy of the forms on file at your school STUDENT ASSESSMENT AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT Administration Record

8 DO NOT Reveal or copy test items Interpret items for students Change or interfere with student responses Fail to follow security procedures and test administration directions leave materials unsecured DO Collect materials daily Place materials in locked storage If materials are missing or scores have been altered, initiate a thorough investigation IMMEDIATELY contact Student Assessment & Research at (754) 321-2500 STUDENT ASSESSMENT AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT Test Security

9 Before Testing: Prepare room for testing by covering all visual aids Receive materials needed for testing Check student name Complete ESE/504/ELL information by marking it on the administration record During Testing: Distribute materials Read appropriate scripts VERBATIM Maintain test security After Testing: Collect materials Check student test books Complete the Administration Record Notify School Coordinator of any missing materials STUDENT ASSESSMENT AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT Test Administrator Responsibilities

13 Answers will be entered by schools into the Item Bank and Test Platform (used for BSA) Test scores will be automatically calculated by IBTP Instructions for entry have been posted to the IBTP Resources section of the SAR website: http://www.broward.k12.fl.us/sar/ibtp.htm http://www.broward.k12.fl.us/sar/ibtp.htm There are four field tested items on each Primary Reading assessment. They will not be included in number or percent of items correct (see scoring doc) STUDENT ASSESSMENT AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT Score Entry

14 Schools (assigned teacher or leadership) input items (A,B,C answer choices) prior to 4pm on May 27 th, 2016 School leadership should spot check entry to ensure that scores are being entered correctly Teachers need to have books to enter scores but the books need to remain on campus and should be checked in to locked storage every night. 16 For Traditional Schools: Materials are to be returned starting on May 31 st via pony pickup. Materials should be out in your pony area by the end of the day May 27 th. For Charter Schools; Materials are to be hand delivered to 4200 NW 10 th Ave, Oakland Park, FL by 3pm Tuesday May 31st. Schools should return the following:  Red labeled box(es) containing scored Primary Reading test books  Yellow labeled boxes containing unused Primary Reading test books STUDENT ASSESSMENT AND RESEARCH Material Return

17 Administration window, accommodations, and score entry are the same as Primary Reading EOY. Primary Math Scores will not count towards VAM Per the Primary Math DFAs, teachers may read primary math items (not answer choices).
