Living A Healthy Life By Ben Breitman

I’ve seen a lot of people who are overweight, and the numbers just keep growing. We as a community need to work to stop obesity. We need to cut down on unhealthy foods and increase the number of healthy foods we eat, and we should get 60 minutes of exercise a day. If people can make these changes, our whole nation will become a healthier place.

One way to get healthy ands stay healthy is to get enough exercise. According to a good amount of exercise for each day is 60 minutes. A lot of people do not meet that requirement, and do not realize how much they are harming themselves by not getting enough exercise.

I took a survey of 41 5 th grade students at MNS, an elementary school on the Upper East Side. I asked if they played a sport outside of school, what sport and how long they exercised each day. Out of 41 students, 37 students said they played a sport and 4 students said they did not. Even if you don’t play a sport outside of school, you should still find a way to get 60 minutes of exercise each day, whether it’s playing tag or going to the playground. I found out that 3 people exercise 0-10 minutes a day, and 3 people exercise minutes per day. That means 6 out of 41 students exercise 0-20 minutes a day. That is not ideal.

Then, I saw that 18 students exercise for 60 minutes or more per day. Isn’t that great! If everybody were like those 18 students, the world would become a healthier place. Stay off your computer, laptop and television, and make a better effort to exercise more! Don’t do this!Do this!

Way too many people do not eat healthy diets. One way you can make your diet healthier is by watching how much and what you eat. The 4 main food groups are meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables, and grains, according to the website, It is important we get enough of these foods, but not too much! According to it takes the body about 20 minutes to realize it is full, making it easy to overeat, so slow down and enjoy eating your food. Also, a source at states that unhealthy eating has consequences. Eating an unhealthy diet can cause obesity, high cholesterol (which eventually can lead to heart disease), type 2 diabetes, and liver disease.

Another way to eat a healthy diet is to remember that everything is okay in moderation. Eating an unhealthy food once in a while will certainly not kill you, it’s eating unhealthy foods all the time that hurts you. So try and make good food choices, it will pay off! So watch what you eat and how much you eat, and your diet will be a healthy one!

In conclusion, the world is not as healthy a place as it should be. People need to eat better and exercise more. Watch what you eat, and how much you eat. Also, make sure to get 60 minutes of exercise each day. We can make this world a healthier place, I know it!
