STORYBOARDTHAT Share information or create stories using hundreds of available images

STORYBOARDTHAT IS… A web service that provides users with a means to create stories or share information using cells in which they can drag and drop scenes, people, and props into. Users can also use bubbles to share information or dialogue. Storyboards can be used in PowerPoint presentations, saved, printed, or shared. Used for all subjects, with most grades. Used to create graphic organization tools, for storytelling, sharing information, and in presentations.

EXAMPLES OF USES IN EDUCATION Storyboardthat offers resources and examples of storyboards based on topics for different grade levels. They provide you with lists of children’s literature by grade level. Lesson Plans for Elementary Teachers Creating Graphic Organizers Storyboardthat can also be used as a resource for Special Education to create and support the classroom with graphic organizers, social stories, learning aides, and classroom management. Uses in Special Education

LET'S CHECK IT OUT... Who wouldn’t love making comic strips to communicate or complete assignments?

PROS Storyboardthat can be used to address a number of standards. The website provides teachers with guides and lessons that are extremely useful. Storyboardthat can be a tool used for multiple subjects depending on the creativity of the teacher. There are hundreds of available backgrounds, people, and props for use with creating a board. The classroom version offers support for Google Sign On, access to Creative Commons images that are automatically sited when used, privacy controls, and the ability to upload a storyboard into a presentation, blog, wiki, or .

CONS Not all schools or students may have access to computers or internet The purpose of activities could be overshadowed by the choices available when creating a board, making it important to keep track of how students are using their time. Younger students may have a more difficult time navigating through the steps to create a board.

TPACK AND UDL CONNECTIONS Storyboardthat offers teachers a fun, unique way to present information to their students that can be visually engaging. This tool offers students the opportunity to build images that support text sharing main ideas and concise information, while offering teachers an opportunity for assessment. Storyboardthat is one way of customizing the display of information that you provide your students with and is one example of illustrating through multiple media. Storyboardthat can be one option that contributes to providing students with multiple means of representation, action, and expression.
