Roster is updated yearly to keep TC membership in balance - currently 20 industry, 10 government, and 4 university members. A2. TC charter is up-to-date and posted on the website. It is reviewed yearly. A3. Foreign membership – 10 members currently on committee. TAC Governance B1. Succession planning - chair, SC chairs, and conference planners are selected to ensure continuity and effective leadership. B2. Training – Vice Chair attends formal training from AIAA prior to becoming Chair. Briefing for new members planned for the 2004 JPC. A TC manual is being formalized and will be posted on the web prior to 2005 ASM. Liaisons C1. Liaison currently to Combustion committee, also working with Student Activities Committee. C2. Local or Regional chapters - several SRTC members are actively involved outside TC. C3. Other Organizations - SRTC members are actively involved with other organizations, (AIA, JANNAF, and ASME).

2004 July P&E Mtg SRTC.ppt 9 TC Meetings D1. Meeting Attendance - 2 TC meetings are held annually with the ASM and JPC. Attendance is usually between 60 and 75 percent of the entire committee. D2. TC Member Participation - a majority of members are active. Special Tasks E1. Short Courses - SRTC has held several short courses for fund raising and industry training. A course is planned for the 2004 JPC. E2. SRTC supports AIAA design competitions. TC members have also visited universities to discuss design activities. E3. K-12 Educational programs - members participated with activities at local level. (supported the AIA Team America Rocketry Challenge) E4. Community programs - TC members participate in a number of activities - particularly at the local level. E5. Books – A Solid Rocket Text is in the planning stages by education sub committee E6. 2004 July P&E Mtg SRTC.ppt 12 ISSUES Perceived trend towards lower quality papers at conferences Increase in number of cancelled or withdrawn papers at conferences ITAR –AIAA needs to take a leadership role in the ITAR approval process for technical papers –Leaving the responsibility solely on the authors will cause authors to seek other outlets for presenting their research. (e.g. JANNAF)
