This subcommittee shall also participate in the selection of the AIAA Wyld Propulsion Award recipient, on a yearly basis, as well as respond to requests for AIAA awards as requested. This subcommittee shall also implement an AIAA SRTC "Best Paper" Awards Program and a student scholarship program awarded on merit and involvement in the field of solid rocket propulsion

4 3 Honors and Awards Goals Recognizing the Very Best in Our Industry Recognize students at all levels  College, high school, middle school, and related aerospace clubs and academies  Look to your local section to help Recognizing outstanding achievement is one of the primary responsibilities of the Institute. Recognition of your profession and your peers cannot happen without YOU!

Carr) and AIAA (Need Contact) Winner to be formally announced at JPC awards luncheon in Nashville, TN Last year’s winner was “Thrust Oscillations in Solid Rocket Motors" by J. F. Guery, S. Ballereau, F. Godfroy, S. Gallier, O. Orlandi, P. D. Pieta, E. Robert, P. D. Cesco (AIAA- 2008-4979-989)

7 6 WYLD Award The Propulsion Award and the James H. Wyld Memorial Award honoring the developer of the regeneratively-cooled rocket engine were combined in 1964 to become the James H. Wyld Propulsion Award. In 1975, the name was again modified to the Wyld Propulsion Award, which is now presented for outstanding achievement in the development or application of rocket propulsion systems.

8 7 The Wyld Award is a National Award! Wyld Award – led by SRTC  2008-2009 candidates were, –Dr. Stanley K. Borowski from Nuclear and Future Flight TC –Russell A. Ellis from Solid Rockets TC –Dr. Kenneth K. Kuo from Hybrid Rockets TC –Dr. Scott Stewart from Propellants and Combustion –Dr. William Sirigano from the Liquids TC  And the winner was, – Dr. William Sirigano, University of CA Irvine » Citation Extensive and fundamental contributions to the advancement of chemical rocket propulsion through theories of non-steady combustion and fluid dynamics  SRTC to support Wyld award for 2009-2010
