Section Designations Period 3: Section A Period 4: Section B Period 9: Section C Period 8: Section D

Goals & Objectives Introduce students to contemporary musical concepts We will use and learn about digital audio, MIDI, and various multimedia applications connected to these concepts. You will learn the basics of software programs that are used to edit and produce the above concepts. Some of these programs are free and available for you to use at home. Additional opportunities may present themselves depending on student interest in the areas of live recording scenarios and audio/video coordination.

Expectations A set of headphones. o "Earbuds" work well, but if you have the resources, you might want to invest in those of a higher quality. A flash drive of at LEAST 1 GB in storage. o You will NOT be able to save your work to the network drives due to the amount of space involved. o Please back up your data regularly. "I lost my flash drive" is equivalent to "the dog ate my homework" and is not an allowable excuse. :) 3-Ring Binder (can be a section in an existing binder). o address and internet access. o You will be expected to do a fair amount of work on your own outside of class.

Expectations Be in your seat by the time the bell rings. Treat each other with respect - this goes for everyone's opinions and creations. Abide by the district's acceptable use policy (AUP) for technology. Don't know what it is? Look in the handbook....

Grading Due to the nature of this course, you will be committed to working on projects that take multiple class periods, and in some cases, multiple weeks. Therefore, the grading policy is as follows: 35%: Class Participation 50%: Class Projects 15%: Notebook Checks / Written Assignments All assignments will be posted to my teacher website along with due dates. It is YOUR responsibility to check back frequently and ask questions if you have them!

Lab & Computer Usage The music tech lab is open before school from 7:00-7:40, and at any period during the day that it is not being used for a class. It is also open after school until 3:00pm (or whenever Mr. McAdams leaves for the day). These computers are for school work only - do not install games, 3rd party software, or anything else that is not related to a school project. You will be allowed access because of this class to external sites. Understand that this is a privilege and not a right...
