May 2012

 Please do not contact schools or districts  Our Regional Clinical Practice Leads will be finding places with qualified Site Support Providers who want Student Teachers  Can I student teach where I currently work?  How long will I student teach?  Two placements for Multiple Subjects

 Ideally, this begins with a three way meeting between your University Support Provider, your Site Support Provider and you.  You will review the expectations for student teaching—that is, moving from observations to small group to whole group teaching— rather quickly.  The three of you will review the observation and assessment forms which are submitted in SOAR.

 You will be expected to plan as your Site Supervisor plans  In addition, you will complete several formal lesson plans using the National University lesson plan. These are for use when your University Support Provider comes to observe you.  The plans parallel the requirements of the TPA tasks.

 You will complete TPA Tasks 3 & 4 during student teaching, we hope.  The Student Teaching Seminar assignments are designed to prepare you for the tasks.  Getting your video completed during student teaching is the best thing.  What if I can’t handle it all?

 Seminar (5 class meetings) designed to help you as you interact with other student teachers and professors.  University Support Provider  Regional Clinical Practice Lead  Professor Birdsell

 What if things do not go well?

 Watch for your interview time.  Prepare three items 1—Biographical essay—about 1 page, who are you and why are you becoming a teacher? 2—Resume 3—Lesson Plan (can use from a course or TPA Task)  Mark your calendar for the Student Teaching Orientation Meeting  Make sure that all paperwork is in and tests are passed.

 June 27, 28, 29--Student Teacher Interviews: 6/27 is South/East part of the county 6/28 is San Diego Unified 6/29 is North County Locations to be determined  July 12, 18, 19--Student Teaching Orientation You will receive an invitation to one of the following: 7/12 is South County, 7/18 is North County and 7/19 is San Diego Unified/East County.

 What questions or concerns do you have about Student Teaching?
