6 Professional Benchmark #1 - #5 (p. 8) Maintain a GPA of 3.0
Meet with your assigned education advisor prior to registration each semester. Keep track of your progress by checking your audit often! See page 5 for directions on obtaining your audit on MyCHC (portal). You are responsible for bringing the following to each meeting Copy of Your Advising Sheet (found on the portal) Benchmark Progress Sheet (p. 7 – 9 in handbook) Obtain all clearances as listed on the Clearance Reference Sheet (found on the portal) You will need these for your first Field Experience and must renew them each year.

7 #7 -9 Complete application/clearances for Stage IIIA Field Experience
#6 Completion of all pre-professional and professional education foundation courses EDP , 204, 205, 207 EDML 201, 222; EDSP 340 EDSC 201, 203, 315 #7 -9 Complete application/clearances for Stage IIIA Field Experience Stage IIIB Field Experience

8 #10 Submit a portfolio with evidence of meeting requirements of professional competences for FE III A and B. (B is not required for secondary majors.) #11 Completion of general education courses and professional education courses as listed on advising sheet. #12 Formal application to Clinical Student Teaching with all relevant PDE documents and clearances. Renewal of clearances may be applicable.

9 Student Teaching Benchmark Requirements
School of Undergraduate Studies Progression through Clinical Student Teaching (9 credits) Seminar (3 credits) Exiting Program and Applying for Certification Support from Career Services

10 Student Teaching Benchmark
#1 Complete the Student teaching experience and seminar with an 3.0 overall cumulative GPA #2 -3 Successfully satisfy all criteria for Stage IV Clinical Field Experience as outlined in Candidate Handbook (Student Teaching)

11 Exiting Program #5 Prepare to pass Certification Tests with review and practice. #6 Obtain qualifying scores for Certification Tests for your certification area(s). #7 Successfully complete required coursework and minimum 120 academic credits

12 Applying for Initial Certification
Recommendation for Instructional I teacher certification by CHC certifying officer requires: an overall GPA of 3.0, documentation of Basic Skills Test qualifying scores (PAPA, CORE, SAT and/or ACT, Math 232 grade of B or above). successful completion of teacher preparation program, and receipt of passing scores on the required Praxis II or PECT tests (Core and Professional Knowledge) for the certification area(s) Find information on the PDE web site under Learn More About Certification at Apply for Pennsylvania Instructional I Certification through TIMS
