8 SE1 Submissions Read the Maths handbook very carefully o Mentor meeting reports (MM) and Lesson observation reports (LO) (Weekly) o School Based Observations (19.10.15) o SE1 Tasks (3 x teaching sequences) (from 31.11.15) o SSA Literature Review SSA (31.12.15) o SSA (03.02.16) All submissions to your college tutor in the form yourname_documenttype

9 SE1 Placements o Share how much you know about the school you will be going to. o Discuss general questions that you would like to add to your questions list.

10 Going in to School: Day 1 o Be nice, dress smart, do whatever you are told to, choose mugs and chairs with care,... o Expect that no-one will even know you are coming. Expect to be kept waiting around. o Don't try making any arrangements on day 1. o Announce yourself at reception. o If all else fails Des’s number is: 020 7848 3162

11 School Experience 1 o The timetable o Assigned classes (approx. 9 hours, KS3,4,'5') o Tutorial/PSHE/Citizenship etc. (1 period + assembly, registration, parent’s evenings, etc. etc.) You need a fixed timetable a.s.a.p. o What you are expected to do: o Observe o Plan/Teach/Evaluate: individuals, pairs, small groups, classes for parts of lessons o Build up to: Whole lessons/whole classes, formal assess, marking, keeping full records

12 SE1: (Your) Observations of teachers teaching o Planning o One observation task for each of the first three weeks o Plan into your timetable o Keep notes (how/why) o Experiences o Find the best teacher o Follow a class for a day o Follow a teacher for a day o Follow a student with special needs o Focus on themes o Classroom management strategies o Student/student conversations o Student teacher talk o How resources are used and their effect... (etc).
