 Internet and E-Safety:  We take this issue seriously at Brookburn. Internet and social media safety is taught to all year groups at the beginning of the school year.  We have school wide safety features but if anything gets past these filters, students are taught to switch off the screen and report to a member of staff immediately. ICT

End of year expectations will be published on the website. Draft calculation policy on website. Year 3 Blog

How can you help?  Homework – Handed out on Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. Comprises Literacy, Numeracy, Spellings and Times Tables.  Reading books changed on Monday. Daily reading at home.  Helping your child with maths, telling the time  Study Guides – Rising Stars, Descriptosaurus  Spellings handed out Friday to be learnt by the following Wednesday.

How can you help? Key areas that we will be working on in Year 3:  Learn to recall multiplication facts for the 2,5,10,3,4 and 9 multiplication times tables.  Recall multiplication facts in a random order with speed (count 5 seconds between each question).  Tell the time in 5 minute intervals.  Match an analogue clock face to the digital time.  Start sentences in varied ways.  Use full stops, capital letters, question marks, exclamation marks and speech marks.

Reminders  Book bags – brought daily  PE bags – bring in on Monday and stay in school  Labelling – please label with children’s full name  Lost property – encourage children to be responsible for their possessions  Jewellery – watches and stud earrings only (must be removed for PE)  PE Kit - black or navy shorts/jogging bottoms/leggings and a white t-shirt – trainers for outside, pumps for inside.  Den day (Monday) – Children to have a change of shoes, trousers and coat.  Medical information - inhalers

An Appeal In order to minimise mess during art activities, please could we ask you to donate any old shirts/t-shirts/aprons? Thank you!
