TV and Film Industry By Antony Blanshard

Media Jobs The responsibilities of a Camera Operator is to Prepare and operate the camera and all its equipment, they also work with the Director and Director of Photography to achieve the visual style of the film. They also manage the other camera department staff and communicate with the actors. The Producer turns the story ideas into a profitable film, they put together a creative and talented cast and crew and are responsible for all aspects of a films production.

The Director is the creative part in a film's production they visualise and define the style and structure of the film, then bring it to life. Along with other crew they carry out duties such as casting, script editing, shot composition, shot selection and editing. They act as the crucial link between the camera team and the cast. As well as communicating very closely with the 1st AD for information to then be passed to the production office. The Screenwriter Researches and develops story ideas and writes the screenplays.

Editor Editors work unsociable hours, often under pressure, in an edit suite, they are responsible for the First Assistant Editor, and on bigger productions, Second Assistant and Trainees. The Editor works closely with the Director, they ensure that the story flows effortlessly from beginning to end, each shot is carefully chosen and edited into a each scene, which turns into the finished film. I Want to become an editor because I love the creative thought process that happens when editing something. Choosing a shot that you believe works better than the other, knowing that the finished process has happened because you put the footage together.
