2 Standard 7.0 Standard Text: Exhibit knowledge of the television production team. Learning Goal: Students will be able to understand roles and responsibilities in television production.

3 TV Production In a television studio video production takes place for a recording of live television to video tape or for acquisition of raw footage used for post production.

4 Executive Producer Person who provides funding for running a program, sometimes involved in the development or production of the program, invests a large sum of money.

5 Producer Person who purchases material and services for finished programs, coordinates or funds a film or program.

6 Production Team Everyone involved in the production, including staff and talent.

7 Director The person who is in charge of the creative aspects of the program and interacts with the entire staff.

8 Production Manager Person who handles the business of production, balance costs and provides areas for filming and shooting.

9 Assistant (production or director) Person who gives general assistance around the studio, helps with tasks around the studio.

10 Floor Manager The eyes and ears of the director in the studio, gives commands, tells when to start a scene, watches if everything works.

11 Camera Operators Responsible for operating the video camera during program production. The camera operator captures the shots that the director requires.

12 Video Engineer Person who manages the visual video equipment and is responsible for the technical quality of video, chooses appropriate video equipment to use and edits or fixes the video quality, if necessary.

13 Audio Engineer Responsible for all audio operations during the program, including microphone, music, and videotaped sounds.

14 Lighting Director Person who decides the type and placement of lighting instruments, makes the light fit the scene or shot, uses many tools for controlling the lighting of different shots.

15 Script Writer The person responsible for placing the entire production on paper Including set description, dialogue, story and cues, directions and sequences, etc.

16 Content Specialist Person who works with the script writer and is an expert in programs, they tell what should be in a film and researches the subject and topic of the video or film to make sure the program is appropriate.

17 Graphics Artist Responsible for all the artwork in the program or film, creates images, makes paintings, draws sketches, etc.

18 Editor Person who puts all the production pieces together during post production, adds transitions and pulls everything together into a final program.

19 Make Up Artist Enhances facial features of characters, makes characters convincing, applies cosmetics to the talent’s face and body.

20 Crew Equipment operators who are not on camera

21 Talent Responsible for reading the script during news-show production. People seen on camera, such as actors.

22 The Staff Work behind the scenes and at the creative levels of programming.

23 Anchors Responsible for reading the script during news- show production.

24 Reporters Responsible for conducting on-camera interviews, writing interview questions, scheduling videotaping sessions, and suggesting guests to be on the show.

25 Digital Image Technician Responsible for creating titles and images for a film using computer generated graphics (after live filming is done). This is done on the Tricaster or in iMovie.

26 Maintenance Engineer Person who keeps all the equipment functional, makes sure all technology works and keeps tools and areas clean and orderly.

27 Technical Director Is responsible for operating the Tricaster during the news show. They select affects and transitions.

28 Teleprompter Operator Responsible for operating teleprompter during show production, making last minute script changes and corrections.
