3 Managing Director  Handles business functions of theatre  Contracts  Fund raising  Ticket sales  Box office management  Development  Education Outreach  Publicity  Marketing

4 Artistic Director  Handles artistic functions of theatre  Hires directors, designers and actors  Oversees progress of play

5 Playwright  Creates and develops the written script  May be involved with production with initial public performance  Helps director understand plot and characters

6 Director  Oversees the overall vision of the production  Coordinates the work of actors, designers and crews  Responsible with creative interpretation of the play

7 Production Manager  Oversees Technical Staff  Helps create rehearsal and performance schedules  Run Production Meetings

8 Stage Manager  MAKES THINGS RUN SMOOTHLY  Assists the Director during rehearsal  Records all blocking during rehearsals  Responsible for all backstage activity once the show opens  “Calls” the show during performance

10 Scenic Designer  Responsible for visual appearance of the scenery and props  Creates draftings, models, and renderings  Works with other designers to create a unified show, as does all other designers

11 Technical Director  Adapts Scenic Designs into working drawings  Oversees Carpenters, Painters, and Electricians  Ensures the safety of all technical elements on stage and off

12 Master Carpenter  Supervises Carpenters during the construction of the set  Responsible for the construction, mounting, and rigging of scenery

13 Property Master  Oversees the construction of all Props  Works under the artistic supervision of the Scenic Designer  Oversees Prop Crew

14 Property Crew  Constructs or acquires all props for a show  Responsible for maintaining and placing props during the running of the show

15 Scenic Artist  Responsible for painting the scenery  Must work with a variety of media and styles  Oversees Paint Crew

16 Paint Crew  Paints the set and sometimes the props  Must be knowledgeable of many painting processes and techniques

17 Costume Designer  Responsible for the visual appearance of the actors  Clothes  Jewelry  Wigs  Makeup  Other Accessories  Provides sketches and fabric swatches to Costume Shop

18 Costume Shop Manager  Interprets Costume sketches into costume patterns  Oversees Costume Shop  Must be adept at a variety of special clothing, millinery, and wig-making

19 Costume Construction Crew  Responsible for constructing costumes  Pattern maker  Cutter  Stitcher  Milliner  Cobbler  Wigmaker

20 Lighting Designer  Responsible for visual appearance of the lighting on and off stage  Drafts the lighting design  Responsible for most all electrical elements on stage

21 Master Electrician  Implements the Lighting Design  Supervise all electrical crews who hang, focus, and run the lighting equipment

22 Sound Designer  Responsible for all sound effects during the show  Newest design field in theatre

23 Sound Crew  Responsible for actual recording, editing, and playback of any sounds  Running any Sound Reinforcement during the show
