I. Strategies of War A.North 1.Primary- restore the Union 2.Three part strategy a. Capture Richmond, gain control of the Mississippi River, naval blockade of the South 3.Based on geography- split South in half B.South 1.Capture Washington and invade the North, shatter northern morale, disrupt Union communications, win European support

Answer the following questions How strong is the strategies of the North and the South? What are the obvious weaknesses of each plan? How might each side work to ensure their plans success? What could they use as a backup plan if their initial strategies fail?
