Partnership on Health Statistics  To further develop and implement a consistent set of comparable health statistics at Community level  To achieve this by intensive and close collaboration with the 27 Member States and Candidate Countries Aim of this document is to inform the DSS on  Achievements and progress of the PH regarding the developments and improvements in public health statistics  Seek comments on the future of the PH Overall aim of Partnership Health (PH)

Structure of PH  Partnership Health Management Group (PHMG)  Overall co-ordination, reporting, forward planning  Core Groups (CG)  CoD, CARE, HIS, MORB  Monitoring needs and initiation of further development work  Ad hoc Task Forces (TF) and Development Groups (DevG)  Specific methodological developments

Partnership on Health Statistics  Started in November 2007 and will last for 18 months Following adaptations after first period were implemented:  Morbidity statistics as fourth strand with its own CG  TGs run directly by Eurostat  Membership of CG was reconsidered Second period of PH

 Meeting in February and June 2008  Main focus on:  Certification, coding and statistics on Causes of Death  Draft glossary (produced by the TF)  Update of the road map  New TF on coverage and confidentiality Activities of CG CoD (Nov 2007 to Aug 2008)

 Meeting in March 2008  Main focus on:  Draft report from TF sampling  New module on disability and social integration (EDSIM)  EHIS implementation in MS  New TF on institutionalised people Activities of CG HIS (Nov 2007 to Aug 2008)

 Meeting in May 2008  Main focus on:  Discussion of Terms of Reference (ToR)  Preparation of short term road map Activities of CG MORB (Nov 2007 to Aug 2008)

Planned Activities of PH  Five to six meetings of PHMG  Two CG meetings for CARE, CoD, HIS and MORB  One to two meetings of DevG SHA, TF coverage and confidentiality, TF on institutionalised people  Potentially one to two meetings of TF on CoD short list revision and/or TF on migrants
