IMAGE CONTENT RESEARCH QUICK START GUIDE Shutterstock has made all its content (images, footage and Offset) available to Cannes Young Lions competitors to use for their campaigns. Username – younglionscomp and password - photo12

Once logged in We understand that researching content can, at times, take a good deal of effort to find what you’re looking for. We’d like to offer a number of suggestions to help you in your quest to find the perfect image, illustration, or vector to fit your individual needs. First choice is to pick whether you are searching for Photos or Footage or using the premium service Offset. *Please note there may be small discrepancies between this guide and our site. Our site is constantly evolving as we continue to grow and improve based on user feedback.

Search Enter keywords in the search field bar at the top of the page. Often times it is helpful to start out by using terms that are broad in scope and then narrow down your search from there to refine the results further.

Pick Your View Settings 1. After entering a search keyword, click on the gear icon at the top right side of the page to customize your search results. We suggest the following: Show 150 images per page to display as many options as possible Keep ‘Image Previews’ turned On. This allows you to see an enlarged view of the image when you hover over the image Keep ‘SafeSearch’ on—it removes less relevant adult-oriented content from your search results 2. Decide which ‘Size’ or grid view you prefer— small, medium or large.

Filters 1. Narrow your search by using the fields on the left. You can search the following: Image Type (photos/illustrations/vectors) Orientation (horizontal or vertical) Category (Animals, food, nature, religion, etc.) Exclude keywords from your search or exclude people Contributor Name People - both if you want to “exclude people” or if you’re looking specifically for images only with people (age, gender, etc.). ‘Editorial’ or ‘Non-Editorial’ images. Non-Editorial images refer to images that could be considered for commercial use. Color

Filters continued You can alter your search results by filtering images that are: ‘New’ (most recently added), ‘Popular’ (most frequently downloaded) ‘Relevant’ (most similar to your keywords) ‘Random’ (a mixture of all 3 categories)

Filters continued The ‘Related’ keywords can often be helpful in expanding your search.

Enlarged View Click on an image and you’ll see details on the right hand side including the image ID, description, release information and contributor (‘Copyright’).

Enlarged View continued Additionally, as you scroll down you can continue your search by looking at images by the ‘Same Artist’, or visually ‘Similar Images’ to the one you have clicked on both Shutterstock and Offset and/or by associated ‘Keywords’. These additional results are designed to help assist you in showing you as many relevant options as possible to fit your specific communication needs.

Downloading To download the image, click the red ‘Download Comp’ button.

Lightboxes Create a Lightbox From the search results grid, click on the ‘+ Lightbox’ icon below the image. A window will pop up where you can either select an existing Lightbox or create a new one. Click ‘Save’ and now the photo/illustration/vector is in your lightbox. Add images as you search.

Lightboxes continued From the enlarged view, you can click on ‘+ Add to Lightbox’.

Lightboxes continued View my lightboxes by clicking on your username at the top right of the screen and selecting ‘Lightboxes’.

Lightboxes continued You can share a lightbox by selecting ‘Share’ from the options above the images within a lightbox. A window will pop up, select if you’d like to share a ‘View Only’ link with someone else, or if you’d like to share with another user (‘Editable’).

Lightboxes continued Download multiple images at once by choosing the lightbox you want and selecting ‘Comp All’. If you select ‘Comp All’, your images will begin downloading automatically. Footage works in the same way but you work in clipbins instead of lightboxes. You cannot download multiple clips from a clipbin, only one at a time. Offset also works in the same way but you work in sets rather than lightboxes.
