New Events Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan – challenges you to take advantage of market opportunities to start a new business Entrepreneurship – Growing Your Existing Business Event – for members who currently own and operate their own business

Business Operations Research Event (cont.) Business Services includes human resources, information technology and personal and contracted services businesses. Buying and Merchandising includes retail and wholesale businesses that provide consumer goods. Finance includes banks, credit unions, accounting, investments and other financial businesses. Hospitality and Tourism includes hotels, restaurants and tourism-related businesses. Sports and Entertainment Marketing includes businesses that conduct sporting and/or entertainment events.

Business Operations Research Event The 2013 topic for each career category is the development of a promotional campaign based on the results of the research conducted. Participants will choose an existing business and conduct a SWOT analysis and additional research on its products/services in an attempt to provide new and exciting ways to restructure, change and update that business’s website to create a wider audience and/or generate more customers.

Business Management and Entrepreneurship Events Entrepreneurship Written – – prepare a written proposal for a new business – request financing for the proposal in a role-playing interview with a bank or venture capital official International Business Plan – – apply marketing skills in an international setting – prepare a written proposal for a new business venture (a new business or a new product or service of an existing business)

Chapter Events Community Service Project – demonstrate their understanding of the role of community service within their community – plan and conduct a project to benefit a community service or charity – evaluate the project’s effectiveness in meeting the stated goals

Creative Marketing Project – Such a project might concern itself with finding new markets for local products, promoting the community’s resources, increasing the trading area of facilities, increasing sales, increasing employment, providing better shopping facilities, solving problems or challenges affecting the marketing process, etc.

Entrepreneurship Promotion – demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of entrepreneurship – engage in activity(ies) that clarify and enhance understanding of entrepreneurship – plan and implement a presentation or activity(ies) to educate and promote entrepreneurship to organized – groups and/or the general public
