The market is introducing improved technology including: Stylish colours and fabrics Breathable materials- temperature regulation UV Stretch- Protection against UV rays Hydrophobic fibres- Repels water keeping the body warm Compression technology to improve circulation and medical conditions. Fabric technology is currently most prevalent within sportswear.

Companies such as Nike invest into advancing fabric technology. In February 2015, the brand will release its Nike lab X JFS collections. The designer is Johanna F Schneider from Berlin. The designs combines performance sports wear and high fashion. Pieces from the collection are designed to enhance performance and can be removed in layers during a workout. The collection is inspired by human movement and architecture.

Nike Air Pre Cool vest- Developed for the olyimics in 2008. It has a modern space travel appearance. The design is inspired by 1960’s high fashion and medical packaging used to transport blood. It is designed to cool the body temperature. This reduces energy loss, which can be used in sport. The design clings to the wearer like chain mail. Triangles adhere to the skin for maximum contact. The vest is made of two layers, filled with frozen water. It is designed for hotter climates. It helps insulate the body’s heat. It is coated with aluminium to reflect the sun’s radiation. It is becoming more popular for buisness and personal uses. Wearable technology is used in health care. Nike have introduced wearable technology for sports training.

Smart E- Textiles Technology is advancing in areas of smart textiles. This are fabrics which incorporate digital devices, such as tiny computers. Some textiles may have sensors or controllers within them. Clothing can monitor the heart, light up, deflate, cool or heat up.

Sensual Dress This dress changes when the wearer is sexually aroused Sensual Dress This dress changes when the wearer is sexually aroused. It explores technology and intimacy. It was created by Studio Roosegaarde and designer Anouk Wipprecht, the dress is known as intimacy 2.0. It responds to the human heart beat which has an electrical current and turns from white/ opaque to transparent. It has been developed using leather and smart e-foils.

GER Mood Sweater, by Design Lab Sensoree This garment uses technology similar to a lie dector test, to display emotion. Blue means relaxed and red symbolises anger. It helps humans with communicating their emotions effectively. Colour is seen in the light display.
