Standards/Standardized Tests The curriculum this year will be based on the Indiana Department of Education’s standards for Biology I. These can be found on the DOE website ( Beginning next school year, sophomores will have to pass the Biology ECA in order to graduate. Next year, I will be aligning my curriculum to prepare students for this. This year, the curriculum will be in transition to reach that point.

Rules Respect others, including me, other students, and other teachers/staff members No profanity No sexual comments No put-downs or rude comments Listen when someone is speaking Respect the classroom, equipment, and materials Books, lab equipment, desks, computers

Consequences First time – warning Second time – talk with me outside class Third time – detention and parents notified Fourth time – Saturday school

Bullying Bullying will NOT be tolerated in my classroom. This includes the following: Causing physical harm to another student. Name-calling or putting another student down in any way. If I see or hear about any cyber-bullying, I am required to report it and WILL DO SO.

Grading %A 80-89%B 70-79%C 60-69%D ≤ 59%F Based on points earned for assignments, quizzes, tests, labs, projects, and papers

Technology Security Whenever technology is used in this class, I WILL be monitoring the students’ activity on that technology. Students who choose to use technology for purposes other than what they are to be working on in class will lose technology privileges.

Assistance for School Supplies I want every student in my classes to succeed, and school supplies are necessary for this. I know school supplies and textbooks are expensive, and I do not ever want a student to be lacking these things because of financial issues. If assistance is needed to pay for school supplies, please contact me.
